Exercise 7:
According to Costa (2008), globalization is not a modern phenomenon and
appeared early in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries when Levitt’s
article was published. With the positive sign of cross border world trade, a
proportion of GDP is expected to reach more in 2020 and it leads to the
development of communication and the BRIC economies. However, there is
a significant hostility of globalization appearing in both the developed &
developing worlds (Yin, 2012). She maintains that the huge different of
income of each person based on the countries which is the poorest or
richest. In addition, everything from poor countries are being controlled
tightly while Western nations markets are still not opened for agricultural
products from developing countries. In the last source, Brokaw (2014) states
that multinational companies can get benefits easily and make them operate
more freely in markets due to the relaxion of import tariff regimes.
Furthermore, some giant companies such as Coca-Cola have to understand
clearly the differences of each region to make their goods and products the
most suitable with each countries and also compete with nations rivals. In
conclusion, Costa (2008) puts forward that globalization brings some
benefits to the whole world such as the increases of percentage of GDP
whereas several disadvantages of globalization are mentioned by Yin (2012)
in source 2 and Brokaw (2014) demonstrates the connection between
multinational and globalization at final source.
