HIGHER DEGREE RESEARCH

PROOF READING GRANT GUIDELINES


PURPOSE
The Faculty Research Committee is offering ‘Higher Degree Research Proof Reading Grants’ which are designed to
support the timely completion of your HDR Thesis.

ELIGIBILITY
• Recipients must be enrolled in a Higher Degree Research program offered by the Faculty of Engineering and
Built Environment;

• Recipients must have insufficient funds in their PGRSS to pay for proof reading or have a valid reason for
alternative use of their remaining PGRSS funds;

• Recipients must be confirmed HDR candidates;

• Recipients must be intending to submit their thesis for examination within 6 months, and confirmation of
intended submission must be obtained from Principal Supervisor.

• Recipients must choose from a list of editors as supplied by the Faculty (see attached)

BENEFITS
Up to 25 Proof Reading Grants to the maximum of $1,500 may be awarded subject to available funds.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications can be submitted at any time. Applications must be emailed to the Research and Research Training
Officer (details below) and will be assessed by the Assistant Dean Research Training.

Please provide a quote for the proof reading services you wish to utilise. The University will arrange the payment
upon receipt of the invoice for services rendered. Please note that invoices may have to be split if costs are greater
than the funding offered.

Applications will be assessed in terms of their likelihood to contribute to a timely HDR completion.
