Invitation to Participate
in Preparing the Monograph

The Department of Contemporary Armed  Conflicts  Analysis at

National Defense Faculty of the War Studies University (former National
Defence University), Warsaw, Poland is preparing a monograph entitled
"Balkans – societal security. Experience, challenge, perspectives”.
The aim of this book is to present a broad view on the issue of social security
in the Balkan states. The first edition of the monograph is planned to be
published in 2018 with an ISBN number. We are convinced that this
publication will enrich and enhance the academic discussion on the subject of
security in the Balkan states.

We would like to kindly ask You to take part in this endeavor and to
prepare a scientific paper related to societal security in Bosnia and
Herzegovina. We would be most grateful for Your recommendations of
experts and scholars form Bosnia and Herzegovina, who conduct research in
this topic and would like to contribute a scientific paper to this book.

We propose that the articles will provide answers to some of the

following questions:

● How is the societal security system defined in Bosnia and

Herzegovina?
● What is the government’s policy regarding societal security system?
● Which government and non-government entities are involved in the
process of creation of the societal security system in that state? What is the
area of their activities and what kind of mechanisms are used by them to
implement their programs?
● What are the threats and challenges for the societal security in that
state (e.g. migrations from the war torn countries)?
● What reforms are necessary for the societal security system in that
state?
● What are the perspectives for the societal security development in the
context of political and economic state growth opportunities?

The article should consist of maximum 40,000 words, including

bibliography and should be written in English. The deadline for sending
papers please discussed with editor of the book, doctor Marzena Żakowska.
The instructions for paper submissions have been attached in the Annex.

For additional information please contact the research team
