1 Introduction
2 Product Overview
The radio is connected to an RBS main unit and is intended to be used in a main-
remote configuration. The typical configuration is shown in Figure 1.

AIR 4455 contains a dual band radio integrated with one antenna. It is
connected to the Digital Unit (DU) or Baseband unit by one or two fiber optic
interface cables, providing digital transmission and control of the radio.
The AIR antenna section provides antenna arrays for the functions.
The AIR antenna supports frequency band which can be tilted. The electrical tilt
function is achieved by integrated Remote Electrical Tilt (RET) units.
The AIR unit can also be tilted ±25 degrees and swiveled ±45 degrees
mechanically by using the tilt and swivel mounting kit.
Note: When the AIR is vertically or horizontally installed on the wall, the
swivel angle may not reach ±45 degrees due to wall interference.

3 Technical Data
This section describes the physical characteristics, environmental data, and the
power supply characteristics of the AIR unit.
(1) Only the B4 part of B66A supports WCDMA. B4 part of B66A supports 2110–2155 MHz
downlink and 1710–1755 MHz uplink.

The AIR unit is only for outdoor installation. Pole installations can be either on a
pole, or on a mast.
The AIR unit is installed with the cable connections facing down. Allow a
minimum of 500 mm free space below the AIR unit to ensure sufficient working
space.
— Hot microclimates caused by, for example, heat radiated or reflected from
dark or metallic walls or floors
Avoid radio interference by keeping the area directly in front of the antenna clear
of the following:
— RBS equipment
AIR/Antenna
Antenna lobe
No interfering objects

Ericsson applies limitations to the warranty and service contract if the product is
painted.
— For repairs within the warranty period or a standard service contract, the
customer is charged the additional costs for replacing all painted parts of the
unit or the complete unit.

The sound pressure level when operating on low capacity is lower than 28 dBA at
1-meter distance and hemispherical distribution, and 25 dBA for spherical
distribution.
3.7.2 Vibration
This section describes how the AIR unit tolerates vibrations. The AIR unit
operates reliably during seismic activity as specified by test method IEC
60068-2-57 Ff.
The AIR unit operates reliably during random vibration as specified by test
method IEC 60068-2-64.
The AIR unit operates reliably during shock as specified by test method IEC
60068-2-27 Ea.
3.7.3 Materials
All Ericsson products fulfill the legal, market, and Ericsson requirements
regarding the following:
— Material declaration
— Recycling
Note: Different requirements can apply in TN, TT, and IT power systems.
The PSU AC has a built-in Class 1 (Type 1) SPD to protect the equipment in case
of lightning and network transients. The recommended fuse or circuit breaker
rating is therefore dimensioned for not tripping the fuse or circuit breaker in case
of SPD operation. The PSU AC is described in Table 13.
(1) The Maximum AC Input Current is calculated at a total tolerance of -14% of the nominal value.
This results from -10% tolerance of the nominal voltage at the AC delivery point of the utility
company, and -4% voltage drop during the installation. The voltage drop is in accordance with
IEC 60364-5-52. For example, if the minimum Nominal AC Input Voltage is denoted
Unom_min, then the Max AC Input Current is calculated at 0.86 x Unom_min.
(2) The Maximum Allowed Fuse Rating must be larger than the Maximum AC Input Current, yet
still within a safety margin of 15%. This is to ensure reliable operation. However, it must not be
larger than the standard value of the next or nearest higher fuse or circuit breaker. This is in
order to minimize the cable cross-section area and comply with the relevant safety standard.

For more information about grounding principles, see Grounding Guidelines for
RBS Sites.
Note: Use either type of AC power supply cables and do not change during
operation.
The power cable has a wire for Line (L), a wire for Line/Neutral (L/N), and a wire
for Protective Earth (PE) conductors. The wire color code is market-dependent.
All cables must be shielded. The shielding must be properly connected both to the
power connector and to the grounding interface in the power supply equipment,
otherwise the radio overvoltage does not function properly.
The AIR uses SFP modules for optical transmission and optical radio interfaces.
Only use SFP modules approved and supplied by Ericsson. These modules fulfill
the following:
Recommended SFP modules are obtained from the product packages for the RBS
and the Main Remote Installation products. For more information, see Spare
Parts Catalog and Site Installation Products Overview.

Compliance with FCC/ISED EIRP limits is addressed by the licensee and is based
on the geographic area, operational bandwidth, and mode of operation, in
combination with antenna and propagation gains. Licensees are required to
consider all necessary operational parameters to maintain compliance with FCC/
ISED EIRP limits and rules.
