Used as subject:
Eating fruits and vegetables is a healthy habit.
Used as object:
Verbs such as: love, like, enjoy, hate, dislike, prefer (take gerund after
them)
I like cooking.
I prefer buying meat from local shops.
After preposition:
On, at, in, of etc
In spite of training of years, she got knocked out in the match.

Common expression:
