CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Rationale and Background of the Company


The Sirentrepreneurs is an independent, start up venture that selected the sole
proprietorship as its formal legal entity. This structure was chosen because of its
operational simplicity. Although this structure exposes the owner to unlimited liability, risk
management and insurance protection will be established to offset this risk to be led by
the owner, Monica M. Malapitan. The company offers a mermaid design products of
Anklet, Handy Fan Ballpen, and metal straw with holder for reasonable price. The
business starts with the General Manager followed by the Assistant General Manager
with nineteen competent employees and divided into five different departments namely:
Production department, marketing and sales department, operations department,
accounting and finance department, and human resource and administration department.
Each department were given assigned tasks that are required for the business operation.

Having observation with the trend nowadays, the business able to establish a logical
plan to help optimise the chances of success. This document outlines the goals, plan,
and how to rationalised each decision. In order for a solution in this area to be successful
(effective, sustainable, scalable), it needs to be attractive to potential customers. In order
to be attractive to businesses, the solution must provide more values than it costs – there
has to be gain. Simply offering unnecessary materials will not provide a business a good
outcome.

For this reason, the business believes on producing alternative products to allow
consumers to present it as using almost environmental friendly. While this would be a
huge success from a sustainability point of view, this is still not enough from a business
perspective. The business also needs to provide something which will either drive sales,
reduce costs, or, ideally – both. Ways that the business can see of achieving this include:

Reducing the cost of buying and disposing of non-recyclable waste

Improving customers efficiency and satisfaction by purchasing the products offered,


and;

Improving customer’s experience, leading to higher retention rates and net promoter
score.

The Sirentrepreneurs believes that if it can achieve these things, it can turn sustainability
into a sustainable business.

Through commitment to people preferences and satisfaction, we lead the way
in providing value to our customers and other employees by producing creative
alternative solutions in a safe environment, and raising awareness towards
environmental issues.

Vision
The Sirentrepreneurs will adroitly, competitively and technologically inclined to
provide good quality and attractive mermaid inspired products at affordable prices for
teenagers and young adults, while growing from a small start-up business to a household
brand name.

To launch a well-built business around the university campus.
To improve the skills of the employees while giving them a satisfactory job.
To build a long-term career in business industry with opportunities for career

To solve environmental problem in an effective/creative manner in a challenging

CHAPTER II

PROJECT SUMMARY

Name of the Company


The company name “The Sirentrepreneurs” came up from the word Sirena which
means mermaid and entrepreneurs which means the people who provides the product or
services to the customers. The company chose the word “Sirena” because it is well-
known that the color of a mermaid’s tail is colorful and attractive. So as entrepreneurs,
the business wants to attract customers to buy the colorful products with a good quality
and attraction. In addition, the company logo is an image of a mermaid with an ombre
color, it means that the entrepreneur wants to attract the customers by putting a colorful
logo in line to the company’s name. The logo’s shape is circle, which symbolizes its
objective to build a long-term career in business industry and to provide continuous
satisfaction to the customers.

As shown in image 1, the business is located at the University of the East- manila,
particularly at the ground floor of P.O Domingo Center for Information Technology
(POD-CIT). The location is represented by the color yellow legend that shown in the
image.

Brief Description of the Company


The Sirentrepreneurs is a sole proprietorship business as the legal entity. It aims to
provide good quality and attractive mermaid inspired products at affordable prices. In
line with the goals of the business, the start-up venture produces alternative products to
allow consumers to present it as using almost environmental friendly. These products are:
Metal straw and holder, Anklet, and mermaid clips which are made by the employee itself.
The business contributes for the sustainability of the environment, and to raise
awareness towards environmental issues.

Brief history of the Company


The Sirentrepreneurs is founded in 2020 and constitutes an on-going, independent,
private company of producing mermaid inspired products in the sectors of technology,
development, innovation, environment, and management. The company is run by the
owner, Jasmine V. Malapitan with twenty-one competent employees and divided into five
different departments namely: Production department, marketing and sales department,
operations department, accounting and finance department, and human resource and
administration department. Each department were given assigned tasks that are required
for the business operation. The company is operating at the P.O Domingo Center of
Institutes and Technology building in the University of the East-Manila. The
Sirentrepreneurs has the size, know-how, technology, human resources and
infrastructure to meet all the challenges providing total quality solution to the potential
customers. The company ensures the quality of the provided goods and services by
using a good quality system.

Highlights of every phase of the business stage


The new business venture wants to achieve productivity in the products by focusing to the main
objective; to be successful, to give satisfaction to the costumers or meet the expectation of them, and to
gain more loyal customers. The company wants to reach many people aside from the target customers,
and to produce a product that will recognize as a necessity for the consumers. In addition, the business
wants to attain an increase or improvement of sales. The main goal is to achieve growth for the business
and be an inspiration to other businesses. The business’ focused is not about the selling of the product or
to gain back what it produced, but its main reason is to let the customer experience the true meaning of the
product and experience the mermaid magic within the company.

As shown in image 2, the organizational chart starts with the General Manager
followed by the Assistant General Manager and with nineteen competent employees.
The employees are divided into five different departments with the department head,
department supervisor, and department staff; namely: Production department, marketing
and sales department, operations department, accounting and finance department, and
human resource and administration department. Below are the roles and responsibilities
of the officers as what shown in image 2.

General Manager
Duties for the General manager will include allocating budget resources, formulating
policies, coordinating business operations, monitoring and motivating staff, managing
operational costs, ensuring good customer service, improving administration processes,
engaging with vendors, hiring and training employees, identifying business opportunities,
and monitoring financial activities. The entrepreneurial spirit and vision in directing
business functions will assist the organization in maintaining relationships with clients,
generating new business, increasing staff productivity, improving service, ensuring
sustainability, and meeting business objectives.

Assistant General Manager


It will be the job of the assistant general manager to aid the general manager in
coordinating, directing and planning everyday business operations. She will help create
weekly schedules, ensure shifts go smoothly, manage daily operations and help with
human resources as necessary. It’s an AGM’s job to make sure an organization is
running as well as it possibly can, with a smooth efficient service that meets the
expectations and needs of customers and clients. It also involves in managing both raw
materials and personnel. Oversight of inventory, purchasing and supplies is also central
to the job.

Operation Department
Operation department is responsible for making sure that customer orders are
filled on schedule. This responsibility covers managing production rhythms and also
syncing manufacturing timelines with availability and delivery of materials needed for
production. It also cover the planning and making strategy about your product and
business.

Operation Head
Operation head is the key person in the management team and in the company.
He or she analyze and improve the organizational processes, and focusing to
improvements of the productivity, quality, and efficiency. The task of the operation head
is very important because he or she will plan what will happen to the business and
involves in making policies and strategic decisions as well as the improvement of
operational procedures. He or she also will assist the human resources department head.
Lastly he or she will encounter also how to solve some problems and to address
opportunities of the company.

Operation Supervisor
The Operation supervisor is a type of employee who observe the company’s
operation in a particular area. The duty of a supervisor is important in every different type
of career such as business, service, manufacturing and others. The duties of an
operation supervisor includes reports, budget planning, inventory control and planning
for the market strategy to sell the product to the customers and also planned the design
of the booth to make it look appealing to attract consumers. Also it must be sure that the
staff is knowledgeable and qualified about the task given.

Operations Staff
The operations staff may have duties including resolving customer issues, filling
orders, and inspecting merchandise. Operations assistants in many industries may also
help with office and employee management. They may be assigned tasks such as
ordering supplies and preparing sales reports.

Production Department
The production department is responsible for converting raw materials and other
inputs into finished goods or services. In between the processes of production, the
department works to improve the efficiency of the production or assembly line so that it
can meet the output targets set by company management and ensures finished
products offer consumers the best value and quality.

Production Head
Production is the functional area responsible for turning inputs into finished outputs
through a series of production processes. The Production Head is responsible for making
sure that raw materials are provided and made into finished goods effectively.

Production Supervisor
Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing
variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and
resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting
procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process
control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between
departments.

Production Staff
Production staff is tasked to do anything related to the product for example,
assembly or manufacture of parts and items, testing completed items, moving materials
and hardware to different zones or even cleaning the production zone. Being a
production staff needs to assemble domain and play out an assortment of obligations to
guarantee creation objectives are met for an association. Doing stuff such checking the
inventory are one of the job of production. Moreover production staff are described to
perform all production related tasks and activities.

Human Resource and Administration Department


Human Resource and Administration handles many necessary functions of the
business .It is instrumental in keeping records, checking the attendance of the
employees in different Department .And also in monitoring the Performance of all the
employees. The HR head is Will be the one to update and maintain the employee records,
to manage also various HR documents and to act as the first port of call to employees
and external partners for all HR related queries.

Human Resource and Administration Head


Human resource managers are responsible for ensuring that the
overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of human resources plans and
programs are realized. Therefore, their essential job responsibilities include: Planning,
organizing, and controlling the activities and actions of the HR department.

Human Resource and Administration Supervisor


The Human Resources Management Supervisor’s duties include are accurately
recording hours of work, managing pay roll and employee relations. He or she should be
able to juggle many responsibilities while maintaining a positive attitude. In addition, the
role is setting the strategic course for the department to improve company performance.
HR Supervisor can take place the position of Head HR if he/she can’t be able to come to
work.

Human Resource Staff


Human resources specialists are responsible for recruiting, screening, interviewing
and placing workers. They may also handle employee relations, payroll, benefits, and
training. Human resources managers plan, direct and coordinate the administrative
functions of an organization.

Administration Staff
Maintain electronic and physical files. Maintain weekly schedules of employees.
Organize and provide documents, reports and information. Coordinate work space,
computer, and supplies for new employees with IT department.

Sales and Marketing Department


A sales department is the direct link between a company’s product or service and its
consumers. However, a well-trained sales department does more than generating sales.
The sales staffs are responsible to build relationships with the customers. Sales
department promotes the growth of the business as well as customer retention. A quality
salesperson builds an ongoing, long-term relationship with the customers.

Marketing department endorses the business and drives sales of its products or
services. It provides the essential research to identify the target customers and other

audiences. It’s important to keep a strong marketing department intact regardless of the
economy to remain visible and keep sales strong.

Sales and Marketing Head


The Sales and Marketing Manager's responsibilities include generating unique sales
plans, creating engaging advertisements, emails, and promotional literature, developing
pricing strategies, and meeting marketing and sales human resource objectives. The
Sales and Marketing Manager represents the company's brand and drives strategies to
increase product awareness by observing the market, competitors, and industry trends.

Sales and Marketing Supervisor


The role of a marketing supervisor involves coordinating all internal and external
marketing and promotional efforts including merchandising, community relations, public
relations, information, events, and demos. A marketing supervisor also leads the
marketing team in some companies and prepares the marketing budget.

The sales supervisors manage the retail sales staff and coordinate several sales
activities, including pricing and the display of products, with a view to realizing the set
sales targets.

Sales Staff
As the public face of the company the Sales Associate is responsible for dealing with
any and all customer questions about the products and services the company offers. A
Sales Associate is expected to be continuously updating their knowledge of the company
products, services, and policies.

Marketing Staff
A marketing assistant might research competing brands and present those
findings to firm higher-ups. The assistant may also prepare and send out mailings, such
as press packages that share information about the brand or product the company is
currently marketing. These professionals also assist various departments in the firm on
whatever projects they need help with. A marketing assistant should get a chance to
learn about a lot of different aspects of the company through this role.

Finance and Accounting Department


Finance and Accounting Department is responsible for recording and reporting
transactions such as financial controls, account receivables, accounts payables,

payrolls and many more. It manages the overall cash flows, both in and out, of a
company. Also, it provides accounting services. This department manages the finances
of a company and is responsible for acquiring funds for the firm, managing the funds
within the organization and planning for the expenditures of funds on various assets.
Overall, the finance and accounting department deals with the money that the
organization is spending and acquiring.

Finance and Accounting Head


Finance and accounting department head is responsible for monitoring and
analyzing the accounting data and producing financial reports or statements. It is
responsible for its subordinates and the one who is accountable for the possible mistakes
in the financial reports or statement. In related to that, the department head should
double check all of the financial data in order to avoid fraud and mistakes. It should be
establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles. Overall,
the finance and accounting department head should meet financial accounting objectives,
assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy, improve systems
and procedures and initiate corrective actions.

Finance and Accounting Supervisor


The role of an Accounting and Finance Supervisor is to supervise the accounting
staff in analyzing the financial operation of the firm. He or she also helps her co-workers
in preparing the Cash Flow, Balance Sheet and Income Statement of the company. He or
she also involves in providing the financial information of the company. As a part of this
department, the supervisor should be also responsible for billings, collections, and
maintaining financial control. Lastly, he or she assists the department head for recording
every transactions of a business.

Accounting Staff
Staff Accountants work in the accounting department of a company or
in accounting firms and perform a variety of duties such as maintaining the general
ledger, reviewing financial statements, preparing financial reports, assisting with audits
and budgeting processes, and reconciling accounts.

Finance Staff
The finance staffs are responsible for accounting for various forms of revenue and
expenses for a company. Accounting functions include check processing, accounts
payable and receivable management, bank confirmations and payroll.

1. Source of Product Supply


a. Foreign- The Sirentrepreneurs’ metal straw are made with relatively simple
manufacturing process. It’s originate from stainless steel tubing of different
diameters and are cut to length. Metal straws are from the country of Singapore
where they protect and promote towards environmental issues.

b. Local- The raw materials used in bracelet and anklet are from the local market
and made by the employees of the company.

2. Factor Analysis of the Past and Future Supply Chain

The real measure of supply chain success is how well activities are
coordinated across the supply chain to create value for consumers while also
increasing the profitability of every link in the supply chain. The good outcome of
the business pertains to the past factors including the employee’s hard work and
organization during tasks, also the employee’s observation on conducting a
product is a big impact. In summary, the trend of the chosen products will
continue, even thougj supply chain partners must provide quality, consistency,
and continuity, there is an increasing need for the workers to have backup
suppliers. To remain competitive, smaller producers and commodity groups need
to look at becoming part of a larger supply system.

D. Competitive Analysis

1. Selling Price- The Sirentrepreneurs offers an affordable price to the customers


and the table below are the price list of the Sirentrepreneurs company.

2. Competitions- The advantage of the Sirentrepreneurs company is that the


products they’re offer are environmentally friendly and simple but classy.

3. Distribution and Cost of transportation- In distribution of the products, the


employees ensure that they’re giving the good quality and right quantity of product to the
customers. The employee and the customer set their place where they can do the
transaction.

4. Channel of Product Distributions- The employees are the middleman of the


company because they buy the metal straw to the wholesaler store and the
Sirentrepreneurs are the one who will retail it to the customer. And for the bracelet and
anklet, the production department are the assigned people who will make the products
and the retail store/booth are the middleman for the customers.

POD-CIT building is the main place for the business students and to persuade customers
we make our booth as attractive as we want to gain customers.

environmental issues and the trend of being simple and classy as the same time. So, the
Sirentrepreneurs came up with the products of metal straw, hair clip, bracelet and anklet.

3. Demographic Segmentation Strategy- The Sirentrepreneurs valued the people


who are going to be the potential customers and we know that large number of population
of the university are the students and the next are the workers or the faculties.

4. Pricing Strategy- As a start-up business, the Sirentrepreners decided that the


prices that we will set are affordable for the students and faculties to make sure that they
can avail the product easily. The Sirentrepreneurs also used the leader pricing to gain
loyal customers and make them buy again. We computed also the expenses of the
company before we come up with our prices.

5. Channel of Distribution- The Sirentrepreneurs use the Indirect Channel


Distribution because the booth/store of the company acts as a middleman to provide
products to the customers.

6. Promotion and Advertising- We, the employees of the Sirentrepreneurs used


different strategies to promote our products. First, we used the social media as a platform
to make our company to be known by other people that our company are existing in the
market. The other one is the personal selling which we used in our booth by persuading

PALITAW is known to be one of the snacks or kakanin here in the Philippines. It is


basically sticky rice topped with sugar. Yet we are not satisfied with basic so our palitaw
will satisfied your cravings because it is now with condensed milk

ACCESSORIES boost one's confidence especially to their fashion. Our own made
anklet, bracelet and hairclip with mermaid theme will give you good quality product in an
affordable price.

Plastic wastage is one of the biggest problems of the society so we are offering you
METAL STRAW sip while saving the environment. Our metal straw comes in set of silver
metal straw or mermaid metal straw with canvas or velvet holder .

B. Product Process

PALITAW

Step 1: Combine glutinous rice flour with water and mix until a dough is formed.

Steop 2: Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough then mold it into a ball-shaped figure.

Step 3: Flatten the ball-shaped dough using the palm of your hands.

Step 4: Boil water in a cooking pot then put-in the flattened dough.

Step 5: When the flattened dough starts to float, remove them from the pot and set it
aside allowing water to drip.

Step 6: Arrange in a serving plate then put condensed milk, sesame seed and grated
coconut.

C. Plant Related Capital

The employees are providing 200pcs of Palitaw every other day since it is only
available in an alternate ways of selling.

The business is producing 3pcs of each accessory a day for display or on the go
buyer. Also, the employees are accepting pre order for the preferred designs of the
buyers. The product will last for 3-4 days before giving to the buyers.

The metal straw is mostly pre order. But as part of the inventory, the company is
producing 10 different designs of metal straw for the physical production that needed for
the store.

D. Machinery and Equipments

In producing the products, the employees are the assigned persons in doing the
bracelets and anklets using their own bare hands. The materials that have been used for
bracelets and anklets are beads and nylon only. In the other hand, the metal straw and
the mermaid clips are from a distribution business which is partnered by the venture. The
making of the sub- product, Palitaw, does not comply any used of machinery, it consist of
sesame seed, Condensed milk and grated coconuts.

The target market will be students and millennial who wants to try the
fancy mermaid theme products and taste the creamy palitaw, which is the
venture’s sub-product. The business is located at University of the East POD
CIT Building. The proponents believe a locally-owned business is the best
option to serve the rapidly growing population with fresh, unique products.

Marketing strategies

Through flyers, tarpaulins that will be placed in front of the booth with the
size of 3” x 4 ft. and social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram
and Twitter, The Sirentrepreneurs attracts the customer’s attention,
communicate directly with them and give them enough information about
the product to foster enough interest to motivate them to purchase. It

We sell our products using our own marketing strategies, first we must know our product
analyze it and create strategy if our product have weakness, second, choose your target
market verify it if the product is for teenagers, adults or kids, third find your location, we
need to find a good location where our product will stand out among competitors, fourth
create a promotion strategy and advertisement to get the loyalty of customers also stay
making unique products, we sell our products by following these steps we finish the
selling week perfectly and we do it in a professional way by approaching our customers
with a clean and pleasant appearance and a big smile.

The objective is to launch a well-built business around the university campus where

B. Capital Investment Structure

The company conducted a contribution to be able to produce the initial capital of


the business through acquiring a certain amount of money from the members per
day. There are 21 members overall who contributed 10 pesos every weekdays for 7
