Some of the main phytonutrients contained in NUTRILITE concentrates include flavonoids,

carotenoids (such as beta-carotene and alpha-carotene) lutein, lycopene, zeaxanthin,
isothiocyanates, and tocopherols. How do we know these phytonutrients are present? Through a
technique known as chromatography, our scientists can detect and measure the presence of
vitamins, minerals and other chemical compounds.

Alfalfa is one plant that fits into the "amazing" category. Its roots tunnel deep into the soil to
grab nutrients that other plants may never reach. And its leafy tops are rich in niacin, protein,
vitamin B-2, beta carotene, vitamin C and a host of other trace minerals and nutrients. Today,
alfalfa remains one of Nutrilite's predominant plant sources. And thanks to the efforts of our
scientists and researchers, we produce some of the richest alfalfa in the world. our staff to
develop an entire line of plant-based concentrates. Today, we produce concentrates from
watercress, parsley, carrots, spinach, broccoli, acerola cherries, lemon, guava and citrus.

Free-radicals can make their way into your body through air pollution, tobacco smoke, alcohol
consumption and sunlight; providing a balance of the key nutrients (vitamins C, E and beta-
carotene. Our supplements combine essential vitamins and minerals with whole-plant materials-
many of which we grow ourselves on certified organic farms. These rich plant materials are dried
and concentrated into fine powders to capture the wide range of nutrients and phytochemicals
that naturally occur in the plants. At Nutrilite, we recognize that plants offer unique blends of
important vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals so we blend plant concentrate powders
together bringing you unique blends of concentrated plant materials from specialty grown crops
like alfalfa, spinach, watercress, parsley, carrots and acerola cherries.

EPA/DHA is a combination of two important essential fatty acids:

EPA and DHA. EPA is short for eicosapaentenoic acid, a member of the omega-3 group of fatty
acids and comes from fish oil. DHA is short for docosahexaenoic acid and should not be
confused with the hormone DHEA. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid whose major function is to
develop and maintain healthy brain tissue and retinal tissue of the eyes. While DHA is found
abundantly in various fish, it is not found in parts you usually eat, which is why many people
prefer to take supplements of DHA.

DHA is structure, EPA is function.

DHA is an essential structural component of nerve cells, needed in large amounts to build the
brain during embryonic and childhood development, but once the brain and nervous system has
matured, the developed brain's day-to-day DHA needs are minimal.

By contrast, although only a small amount of EPA is present in brain cell membranes at any
given time, that small quantity is continuously being used up, necessitating ongoing replacement.

EPA is quickly "turned over" as the brain ceaselessly releases EPA from its cell membranes for
use in "signal transduction," conveying neurochemical messages within neurons just as
neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine carry messages between them.

EPA also fine-tunes and balances the signaling carried out by the brain's main omega-6 fat,
arachidonic acid (AA).

Because EPA is biochemically consumed in the process of carrying out its signal transduction
role, the brain has a need for a large, steady supply of new EPA to keep functioning optimally.
