Problem
No response from processor at selected path/node when trying to go online with a SLC or MicroLogix processor.
Problem 1
The message No response from processor at selected path/node was displayed when trying to go
online, and init driver failed code 158, driver may not be running when trying Who Active
from RSLogix 500, even though the RSLinx RSWho window displays the active stations.
The communication setting in RSLogix 500 finds the correct RSLinx Communication driver but does not let the
user apply it. The Apply button is grayed out and after selecting OK then re-entering System Comms, itTop
does not
display the correct driver.

Problem 2
The incorrect driver or processor node was used by selecting the drop down selection. The last configured
driver is different from the current configuration.
Environment
SLC Processor
MicroLogix Processor
Solution
Solution 1
Start RSLogix 500 while holding the CTRL+Shift buttons on the keyboard. This operation will default the RSLogix
500 registry entry.
If this does not fix the issue, delete the driver used in RSLinx and create it again.
Solution 2
It’s best to use the Who Active selection Comms > System Comms as it forces you to choose the correct
processor and the software enters the correct driver and processor node.
