Thanks for your letter – yes, I read all about it in the local paper. Don’t worry, you

there’s nothing you can (13) do if the elements are against you: it’s no reflection on
you. You did the sensible thing. That last bit of climb is fraught with danger, and
better, more experienced climbers than yourselves have
(14) had to turn back. So let me know if you’re going to have another go – I should
have (15) thought May or June was a much better time for an ascent, anyway.
