PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
1 ACTIVE RECREATION
Every individual desires to live a long, healthy, and happy life. There are some
people who take physical activities for granted and ignore the very important elements
that contribute to well-being. This lesson will provide basic information about fitness and
its benefits to one’s health.
It is important that you know your level of fitness before involving to more strenuous
physical activities. Physical fitness tests prescribed in schools and the application of this
would help you know your level of fitness, and become a basis in developing your
personal fitness program.

RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY
Recreation has been simply defined as socially desirable activity carried on
voluntary free time purposes of fun and pleasure or those activities done during one’s
leisure time.

Active recreation involves strenuous physical activity, this may require more
exertion and competition. However, athletics and sports may also be participated in more
for the enjoyment they bring rather than competitive play.
Choose a recreational activity that you find enjoyable and fits into you daily routine,
in this way you could easily sustain your participation in your chose activity because
personally you are enjoying and you are doing it in your own time.
PASSIVE RECREATION
- Refers to recreational activities that do not require
prepared facilities like sports fields or pavilions.
ACTIVE RECREATION
- Refers to a structured individual or team activity that
requires the use of special facilities, courses, fields or
equipment.

SOCIAL BENEFITS
PHASES OF EXERCISES
1. Warm- up Exercises
The purpose is to stretch the muscles of the body, thus avoiding possible
muscle injury. It also heats up the body, giving a slight increase in the heart rate
(pulse) in preparation for the vigorous working phase.
2. Workout
Elevates the heart rate and achieves aerobic fitness activities, which maybe
included in this phase are walking, jogging, running, swimming, bicycling and
aerobic dancing. These phases should follow the principles of training with regards
to frequency, intensity, and time. Reaching the target heart rate and maintaining
the intensity of workout in the specific time are important guidelines for this phase.

● Recreational activities are define as socially desirable activity carried on free time.
● There are two types of recreational activities; active and passive.
● Active recreational activities are activities that require the use of special facilities.
● Passive recreational activities are activities that do not require prepared facilities.
● Swimming,basketball,dancing are examples of active recreational activities
● Reading, watching television, playing music are examples of passive recreational
activities,
● Reduced the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes are some of
the benefits of active recreation.

II. Procedure
1. Illustrate warm-up exercises showing movements and counting
2. You can use a MATCH STICK like illustration (POSPORO, TAONG
PATPAT)

● Head tilts (head bending sideward, forward, and slightly backward)
● Head rolling slowly halfway clockwise and counter clockwise
● Shoulder lifts right and left 8cts.
● Both shoulders lift 8cts
● R and L shoulder Circle (alternately R and L 8 cts.)
● Both shoulders circle forward and backward (8cts forward 8cts.bckward)
● Side stretches and trimmers (R and L arms upward reach alternately 16cts.)
● Waist stretch right, left forward and backward
● Lunges right and left
● Pedalling (heels raise alternately 16 cts.)
● Jogging in place, moving forward, backward, clockwise, and counter clockwise.
Assessment
