Tourism Service

The next sector that also has a great contribution in achieving the AMBISYON NATIN
2040 is the Tourism and Allied services where based on the Japan-Philippines
Investment Forum of 2016, Tourism contributes to poverty reduction as every 1%
increase in tourist arrivals is associated with a 0.12% reduction in the number of the
poor. Tourism gives opportunities to our Locals to get a job and livelihood that helps to
enhance and sustain their quality of living.

Besides expansion and new development of airports and Rehabilitation of tourist

destinations, The Department of Tourism also focuses on promoting the beauty of our
country through website, app, and festivals which helps more to boost the tourism every
year.

One of the projects of the government is the Travel Philippines App, where tourists can
now access the latest advisory in the reopening of the tourism in the Philippines. It
allows app users to see the famous destinations and wonder of each region from diving
spots to natures, beaches, adventures, foods, and events. In the app, tourist can also
see the tips, tour packages, transportations, restaurants, and many more. Because of
the newly launched app, tourists will have an idea where to go and it is now easy for

Finance Service:

Moving to the last sector, the Finance Service, which helps Filipinos have the
opportunities to grow and sustain the quality of living by giving financial support. The
finance service sector focuses more on financial activities like insurance, savings, and
lending money for those who want to start a small business.

And one of the programs of the government is the P3 program or the Pondo sa
Pagbabago at Pag-asenso. This program of the Department of Trade and Industry or
DTI aims to stop the illegal lending in the Philippines and helps the micro enterprises to
grow their small businesses by lending money with low interest.

Unlike 5-6 or Bombay with high interest up to 20% per week or per month, P3 Program
has only a 2.5% interest rate and service fees, and small enterprise can borrow up to
200,000. It is a big help for many Filipinos, especially since many borrowers can’t pay
on time. Many of the wet market vendors and owners of the sari-sari store benefit from
the P3 program because of the low interest. And the government promised that they
would less the requirements needed to borrow money so that they will immediately
receive the cash for their capital without any hassle.

Under the P3 program, the DTI created the CARES program or the Covid-19 Assistance
to Restart Enterprises, which aims to help those affected by the crisis, especially during
this pandemic, by lending money for those small enterprises to have cash assistance to
continue or restart their businesses because of the nationwide lockdown. CARES
program is similar to P3 program, where it also offers loans to small to medium
enterprises with no interest and less requirements for small businesses.
