4. Notes
a) Radios are in all squads and AFVs.
b) Tanks are: June 1944: M4 or M4A1, 08% chance of being M4A3E2 Jumbo
Sept 1944: M4, M4A1, M4A3, with up to 6x M4A1(76mm) per Battalion
Dec 1944: M4, M4A3, with up to 17x M4A1(76mm, M4A3(76mm), M4A3E8(76mm)
per Battalion (9th Division is all 76mm armed variants)
Jan-Feb 1945: M4, M4A3, with up to 17x 76mm armed variants
March-May 1945: M4A3, with up to 30x 76mm armed variants, and/or 10x M26
c) Infantry have M9A1 rifle A/T grenades. 60mm mortars in the armoured infantry
platoons have unlimited HE and from early 1945, smoke and WP.
d) 37mm M6, 75mm M3 and M6 have APCBC as standard. 37mm can have one load
of canister. 76mm and 90mm can have HVAP from Oct 1944. 105mm howitzers
have one load of HEAT.
e) Up to 2 CHQ Shermans per Battalion can be fitted with dozer blade if not Jumbo
variant. Any CHQ Sherman in Italy can be fitted with Mobile Assault Bridge from
October 1944.
f) In Italy cannot use Jumbos, Pershings or Chaffees.
g) In Italy and Normandy, any engineer platoon can have 1flamethrower added.
h) The division has 3 Armoured Battalions and 3 Armoured Infantry battalions shared
between 3 Combat Command HQs.
i) Note in service dates: M24 Chaffee (March 1945); M4A3(76mm) (Sept 1944);
M4A3E2 Jumbo (Jun 1944); M4A3E2(76mm) Jan 1945, M4A3E8(76mm) Dec 1944,
M36 (Oct 1944); M19 (Jan 1945);
j) In 1944 in NW Europe the Tank Destroyer Companies can have M36s mixed in
with M10s or M18s from October 1944.
k) In NW Europe Armoured Infantry Companies often converted the 57mm A/T
platoons to small infantry platoons, with scrounged BAR or LMGs.
