Academic Profile 2019-2020

Evangel Christian School (ECS) is a K-12 church school enrolling 910 students in
Alabaster, Alabama. ECS opened in the fall of 2004 as a ministry of Evangel Church
PCA and graduated its first senior class in the spring of 2005.

Academics

• Honors courses at ECS are not necessarily classified by the amount of work, but
the type of work required. Honors courses are enriched and emphasize critical
and independent thinking to produce creative applications of ideas. Honors
status is only granted with administrative approval.
• ECS does not directly offer AP courses. However, AP courses may be taken by
ECS students through on-line and/or various off campus sources.

Class rank is determined in the following priority order

1. ACT score
2. GPA
3. Course Selection

GPA Calculation

GPA is computed using the above quality points. Beginning with grade 9, all
subjects, whether passed or failed, are included in the computation. ECS uses a
non-weighted GPA scale. A minimum of 25 credits is required for graduation.
Grades are recorded on the transcript and grade point average is computed in
January and May.
