CH 660B / 670B / 680B ROTARY COMBINES
ROTOR COUPLER BOLTS - RP6814

Advice
During 2009 and 2010 there have been failures of the rotor drive on CE rotary
combines; this is due to the bolts securing the drive coupler to the rotor coming
loose and in some cases shearing off, causing a loss of drive to the rotor. This is due
to paint not being removed from the coupling or rotor mating surfaces; this in turn
allows the bolts to work loose.
To help limit the number of machines failing in the field, RP6814 has been released.
This RP will require the removal of paint from the coupler and rotor mating
surfaces, replacement of the bolts and correct torque application.

Action
1. Unlatch and lift the floor panel (1) found in the engine bay to gain access to the
rotor gearbox (fig. 1).

Fig. 1

2. Push the straw chopper all the way rearward to gain access to the rear of the
rotor.
3. Support the rotor so that when the gearbox is removed it cannot cause any
damage to the processor and it remains in line for reassembly.
4. Remove the gearbox shift linkage (1) from the gearbox. Remove the four bolts
(2) and swing the gearshift linkage away from the gearbox (fig. 2).

5. Support the rotor motor (1) with a suitable lifting device. Remove the four
bolts (2) and pull the motor and gasket away from the gearbox. Fasten the
motor to the left hand side of the combine (fig. 3).
NOTE: There is no need to remove the hydraulic pipes on the motor.

6. Remove the breather hose (1) from the rotor gearbox. Cover the opening to
prevent any debris entering the gearbox (fig. 4).

8. Support the gearbox (1) with a suitable lifting device. Remove the five bolts (2)
holding the gearbox to the mounting plate (fig. 6).

9. Pull the gearbox away from the rotor and remove the gearbox. Cover all
openings to prevent any debris from entering the gearbox (fig. 7).

10. Remove the coupler bolts, shield and coupler from the rotor assembly.
11. Remove any paint from between the rotor, rotor coupling and shield.
12. Reinstall the coupler and shield and secure the coupler in place with the new
bolts ordered through AGCO Parts Division, ensure that the bolts are liberally
coated with loctite 277 or equivalent and torqued to175NM.
13. Reassemble the rotor drive in the reverse order as shown using torques from
the Workshop Manual.
