Job roles whose demand will increasingly rise by 2022

I read an interesting and thought-provoking report titled “Future Jobs” from World Economic Forum.
The report has predicted 9 jobs which will be trending by 2022.
This is an attempt to provide details about the job roles which all of us have to understand and start
becoming skilled to have a continuous career growth.
Let’s see them one by one:
1. Data Analysts and Data Scientists

A Data Analyst interprets data into information which can provide ways to improve a
business, thus affecting business decisions making.
Data Analysts often make recommendations about the methods and ways in which a company
acquires and analyses data to improve quality and the efficiency of data systems. 

Job Profile:  A Data Analyst job description should include, but not be limited to:
 Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and prepare reports.
 Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other
strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
 Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data
systems.
 Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
 Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance
indicators to locate and correct code problems.
 Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
 Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

2. AI & Machine Learning Specialist


An AI specialist is someone who is familiar with the major AI technologies and platforms
and knows how to implement them. Example: Building services like Chatbots, Image
Processing / Recognition etc.
A machine learning specialist is the one involved in the development of AI algorithms and
devices. As an ML engineer, one should invent and deploy innovative technologies, useful in
almost every sector and industry.
Job Profile of an AI Specialist: An artificial intelligence (AI) specialist applies their skills
in engineering and computer science to create machines and software programs that can think
for themselves.
Job Profile of a ML Specialist: Machine Learning Specialist is a professional specialized in
developing Machine learning, a branch of computer science that focuses on developing
algorithms which can “learn” from or adapt to the data and make predictions.

Skills: Programming Languages like Python/C++/R/Java, Probability and Statistics, Data


Modeling & Evaluation, Machine Learning Algorithms, Distributed Computing, Advanced
Signal Processing Techniques
3. Software Applications Developers and Analysts

In a Software Development team:
A Software Application Developers develop applications, often referred to as apps,
such as word processing programs, data storage programs, and spreadsheet programs that
make it possible for computers to complete given tasks and to solve problems.
A Software Analyst is the person who studies the software application domain,
prepares software requirements, and specification (Software Requirements Specification)
documents.

Job Profile of a Software Applications Developers:  Software Applications developers


are usually responsible for translating software requirements into workable
programming code. They specialise in a specific development field, such as mobile
phone applications, accounting software, office suites or graphics software etc.
Job Profile of a Software Analysts: Software Analysts perform complex analysis,
designing and programming to meet business requirements. They maintain, manage and
modify all software systems and applications. They develop, maintain and manage
systems, software tools and applications
. Job skills: Android programming, C++, SQL, Java and Javascript, User interface/user
experience, writing and maintaining software, knowledge of XML and web services

4. Sales and Marketing Professionals

 A Sales Professional is someone who sells products or services to potential customers.


They seek to solve prospects' challenges through the products they sell. Great Sales
Professionals will have strong selling and communication skills.

Marketing professionals identify the strategies and techniques used to attract customers to a


business. They determine pricing based on product demand and supply, help maximize a
firm's profits, and grow market share for a business. They also aid in new product
development and critique market trends.

Job Profile of a Sales Professional: Sales professionals are responsible for managing and
accessing the effectiveness of a company’s sales representatives and sales teams. They establish
sales goals, work with other departments to learn more about products or services and develop
strategies for acquiring new clients.

Job Profile of a Marketing Professional: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics


(BLS), Marketing Professionals monitor market trends, create advertising campaigns,
develop pricing strategies and targeting strategies based on demographic data and work with
the company to develop more awareness of what they offer.

Job skills: Strong communication skills, technology enthusiast, in-depth market knowledge,

5. Big Data Specialists

Big Data Specialists are responsible for ingesting and transforming data in all forms, varying
from totally unstructured log entries to database table snapshots, to bring them in a format
that the Data Scientists can use to produce actionable insights.

Job Profile: Utilise data analysis to evaluate the technical performance of an organisation.


Also provides recommendations on system enhancements.

Job skills: Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, NoSQL, Machine learning and Data Mining,
Statistical and Quantitative Analysis, SQL, Data Visualization, General Purpose
Programming language

6. Digital Transformation Specialists

Digital transformation specialists look to how they can leverage existing and upcoming
technologies to enable organizations to stay ahead or compete with new entrants who will be
initiating these changes.

Job Profile: Work in enhancing a company’s technical performance. They analyse the


company’s infrastructure and the gaps in service.

Job skills: Technical aptitude, critical thinking abilities, excellent communication skills,


adaptability, SQL, C++, HTML, CSS

7. Information Technology and New Technology Specialists

In a world run on technology, IT specialists, also known as an information technology


specialist, are what every organization can never have enough of. These IT specialists
cater to the technical needs of businesses. The IT specialist definition is a technical
professional that is responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance
of IT systems.

Job Profile: IT support specialist job profile include specialization in network


analysis, system administration, security and information assurance, IT audits,
database administration, and web administration.

Job skills: Oracle, Cisco, Microsoft
