Dream11 is India’s first Gaming unicorn.

It is soon going to be valued at more than

$2bn. They are doubling each year.

Ironically, Harsh Jain, the founder, is a

bigger football fan and he was
addicted to football fantasy leagues.

The craze of IPL in 2008 pushed him to

start his own fantasy sports company.
The Business Model

The 1st innings of Dream11 was In their 2nd innings they

as a free-to-play ad driven introduced a commission model
company. with a %age cut on the pool.
In the first 3 years they learnt Now, they win irrespective of
what not to do. whoever wins the bet.

How fantasy sports works is users can pick their

favourite players, make a team, bet on it and win the
pool of money if their prediction is spot on.

Skill or a gamble?
In India, a 'Game of Skill' (as opposed to a
'Game of Chance') is not considered gambling
and can be freely played.

In 2019, Bombay High Court declared that

Dream11 results are based on knowledge, and
superior judgement of users, and therefore,
there is no gambling or betting.
The IPL play
>70% of their total expenditure goes towards
marketing and advertisements.
>50% of the revenue is driven by IPL in non-
World Cup years.

With a churn in monthly users and a fall in

revenue (no outdoor games), what better
way to be back on their feet than by betting
on their largest revenue source?
That's right!
Dream11 paid INR 222 crores to
be the official title sponsor
for IPL2020.
And guess who's the brand
ambassador for Dream11?
The Timing!

Our favourite, MS Dhoni.

With more eye-balls chasing IPL
this year, Dream11 has a golden
chance of capturing a large
chunk of the mind-share of a
cricket-worshiping nation.
Dream11 definitely
"Khel gaya dimag se."
