The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £40,062 to £43,470 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at UCL is part of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and has an outstanding international reputation in research on
energy and the environment, marine engineering and naval architecture and engineering for medical applications. The Department enjoys strong research
collaborations with industry and universities in the UK, EU, North America, Asia and the Far East and has excellent research and teaching facilities.
The department is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow to deliver parts our curriculum in Materials, Mechanics and Manufacturing.
The Teaching Fellow will have a significant student-facing role in delivering the existing curriculum, and will supervise groups of students competing in

international competitions. They will also be required to provide pastoral support to undergraduate and MSc students. In collaboration with colleagues in the
Materials, Structures, and Manufacturing research group, the post holder will be expected to pursue UCL’s expectations of excellence in education through
identifying, developing and implementing a range of teaching and learning initiatives in the subject discipline.
The successful candidate will actively participate and contribute as a member of the teaching team to help deliver a high quality curriculum. Collaborate with
colleagues to meet student needs and share developments in teaching methodology, use of equipment and teaching materials with colleagues and will assist in
the development of learning materials, preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
The successful candidate should have a background, and experience of, teaching in materials, manufacturing and mechanics. They will also require a high-level
knowledge of engineering software including ABAQUS, ANSYS, MATLAB, CATIA and other relevant softwares. Holding a PhD in a relevant subject area is also
desirable.
