Activity 1
1. Flexibility and the ability to tolerate high levels of uncertainty is important in the course
intercultural communication because this will give the speaker leeway to act
accordingly to the given situation and his ability to tolerate high level of uncertainty will
help him cope with stress.
2. Reflectiveness or mindefullness is important in the course of intercultural
communication because this will help the speaker appear grounded and mature thus it
will contribute to your credibility as a speaker.
3. Open-mindedness is important in the course of intercultural communication because
this will help the speaker to look at different perspective.
4. Sensitivity is important in the course of intercultural communication because this will
give the speaker an edge to talk about different topic, age , gender, religion or sexual
orientation seamlessly ;also , the speaker will be able to make better decisions in any
given instances.

5. Adaptability is important in the course of intercultural communication because this will


give the speaker the ability to adjust to suit transitions in a given instances while
learning new things.
6. Thinking creatively is important in the course of intercultural communication because
the speaker will be able to engage himself in a difficult situation while finding solution
to the challenges he/she face.
7. Politeness is important in the course of intercultural communication because this help
the speaker improve his/her relationship with others, help build respect and rapport,
boost self-esteem and confidence and improve communication skills.

Activity 2
1. Denial-The individual does not recognize cultural differences.
2. Defense- The individual starts to recognize cultural difeerences and is intimidated by
them, resulting in either a superior view on own culture or an unjustified high regard
for the new one.
3. Minimization- Individual see cultural differences, they bank more on th universality of
ideas rather than on cultural differences.
4. Acceptance- The individual begins to appreciate important cultural differences in
behaviour and eventually in values.
5. Adaptation- The individual is very open to the world views when accepting new
perspectives.
6. Integration- Individual start to go beyond their own cultures and see themselves and
their actions based on multifarious cultural viewpoints.
