Course Description: This subject introduces you to the field of research. It examines in
depth the research process and introduces scholars to the various aspects of doing
scientific research, providing practical advice and insight in the field. Topics covered
include hypothesis formulation and theory construction, data collection techniques,
ethical issues in research, and research design.

Course Learning Outcomes: After completing this course students will be able to:
 Acquire a rudimentary familiarity with the philosophy and epistemology of
scientific inquiry relative to contemporary research methodology.
 To interact with a broad spectrum of faculty and be exposed to a range of
perspectives about management sciences research.
 To prepare a complete research proposal and experience the design of applied
management sciences inquiry.
 To give oral presentations and defenses of proposed research.
 To provide peer consultation to other class participants in preparation of their
proposals.

Assessment and Grading Policy:


Assessment Method Weightage Remarks
Quizzes 10 % Total four quizzes two each before and after
midterm examination.
Assignments 10 % Total four assignments two each before and after
midterm examination.
Presentations 05 % One or more presentations as desired by teacher
concerned.
Mid Term Exam: 25 % Midterm will be conducted after eight weeks.
Final Term Exam: 50 % Final term will be conducted after sixteen weeks.
