Q1. Why do we need to change curriculum from time to time? How important is
curriculum change?
____ For me, we have to change curriculum because our society change over time and we should
have our education system meet this changes or else it will cause chaos, because of lack of
knowledge and misunderstanding. We prevent those things to happen, that’s why we revise the
curriculum from time to time to cope with the dynamic society.___________________________

Learning Episode 12: Curriculum Evaluation and the Teacher

Introduction
This learning episode provides activities on what, why and how to evaluate a
curriculum. This episode also elaborates on the need to evaluate the various curriculum
models.

Learning Outcomes:
 Describe curriculum evaluation
 Explain the importance of curriculum evaluation
 Elaborate on the process of curriculum evaluation
 Design a curriculum tool

Discussion
Curriculum Evaluation is a new idea for many teachers, not knowing that every day the
teacher is involved in several components of evaluation. There are two (2) ways of looking at
curriculum evaluation.

 Curriculum Program Evaluation may focus on

the overall aspect s of a curriculum. More often
it refers to big curriculum program.
1  Examples of these programs that may undergo a
curriculum program evaluation are the K to 12

(b) curriculum process and (c) instructional
materials.
