1. The basic installation principle of the Zibo B738 Mod is this

Full Zibo Base + Latest Fix = Complete latest Zibo

1. Download the latest “full base” version of the mod that is in the Google drive.
- It will be more than 1.1GB in size!
2. Download the latest fix file that is in the Google drive.
- It is only a few megabytes in size. The highest numeric value, at the end the
filename is the clue as to which one is the latest and then you can also check
the file date so there is no reason to get confused.
You only need the latest one!
3. Extract the B737-800x folder in to the XP11 > Aircraft folder
4. Extract the fix file’s contents into the B737-800x folder and overwrite the old files
when asked (MAC users will need to merge!) and then go fly!

As the mod evolved, (and still does daily!) so did the prerequisites to install and run the mod
correctly. As you will see, there is way more to the story than meets the eye.

My aim with this document is to share what I have learned from the developers as well as
from my own experience and supporting many thousands of Zibo users in the last few
months. Just between the official Discord server as well as the Facebook groups that I am
involved with as Moderator/user, there are thousands of users who I try and help on a daily
basis!

Zibo, Twkster and Cloudybox have each contributed personally, directly and indirectly to my
knowledge and experience contained in this guide and you can rest assured that nothing in
this manual is said without their knowledge and support.

Please grab a coffee and take your time to work through this guide. There is a lot of
information to consider but the “Prerequisites” and “FAQ” sections are the most important
sections that you have to read and understand.

Best regards,
Skymatix

*** VERY IMPORTANT for the Ultimate 700 & 900 models***
The 700 and 900 have been updated to V3.37.18.
The 700u Full is in the Zibo Google drive but the 900u Full Base needs to be downloaded
from the Threshold forum, before it can be updated! Once you have both the 700 and 900
Ful base packs installed you can update them from the Zibo Google drive / Ultimate folder
JUST AS YOU update the 800 as described in this document!
Get the 900U (1909) version here:

2. Basic prerequisites for a proper installation of the Zibo B738 files

2.1) A legal copy of X Plane 11.50 or newer ONLY !

- It needs to be a legal copy as you will need to update it periodically and you
cannot do it with a pirated version of XP11. Your airfoils will typically give
errors, to name one issue I know of... In the old days the work around was to
edit the aircraft in “planemaker” to get rid of the issue but it will no longer work
as you will see later in this document.

2.2) You need to download the latest FULL version of the Zibo mod and if there is a
“fix” file you will need that as well.
- The full version is currently called: B737-800X_3_46_full.zip
- The first fix should be called: B738X_3_46_1.zip and the next fix should be
B738X_3_46_2.zip o r at least have a higher numerical number at the end.
Please check the dates if the number of the version is confusing to you. You
only need the latest fix!

- You may download it from this official link until further notice.

OR directly from this OneDrive mirror lnk …

2.3) If you are on MS-Windows, you WILL NEED Microsoft Visual C++
Redistributable 2015, 2017 & 2019 (64-bit). Get it here:

As Google Drive was never meant to be used for the scale of data
transfer it has to cope with right now, we have added a download
option to use torrents. This way we keep it free of charge and no one
will not be affected by the Google download quota anymore!

3. Advanced prerequisites for a proper operation of the Zibo mod

.DO NOT - DO NOT - DO NOT - DO NOT - DO NOT.

1. Use XP11 Beta versions with the Zibo Mod. If you do, be prepared to provide
proper feedback, evidence and answer a lot of questions or be told NOT to use it.
2. Use the default Laminar Research B738 during the installation!
3. Download and use the B737-800x folder from the Zibo Google Drive!
4. Mix, modify or enhance any Zibo versions!
V3.45 is NOT compatible with v3.46
5. Edit config files. The lockdown is real. You cannot edit files anymore!
6. Do not ignore errors reported on the Zibo tablet please do what it says!
Any of these mentioned actions will break the Zibo even before you start

In order to truly enjoy the Zibo mod as it was designed to be, YOU h ave to take
 OU have to:
responsibility for the following tasks, Y

Deselect the “Experimental Flight Model” as well as “Disable Down Wind ILS” on
XP11’s General Settings page (no tick in the boxes!)
 ND THEN
A
Do the controller calibration of your X Plane 11 and the Zibo mod properly
ALSO
To ensure correct loading of the mod, we recommend that you use the developer menu
and use the “Reload Aircraft & Art” option to reload the mod.
ALSO
PLEASE switch XP11 failures OFF
YOU can create failures in the Zibo Tablet or by not following proper Boeing procedures
like running the engines at 102% for longer than 3 minutes…. ! You will melt them !
ALSO
Liveries can no longer contain ANY Zibo or custom objects such as panel objects. They
will cause the mod to display incorrectly, and even lose the magenta line as well as the
duct pressure!
Lastly
Exclude XP11 and any related folder or program from your Anti-Virus “real time” scanning
system.

4. How to perform a new installation of the B738
1. Extract the B737-800X_3_46_full.zip in to the XP11, Aircraft folder
- Rename the folder to B737-800x

- The contents of this folder will be a complete Zibo Mod that you can go fly, as
is, already.
2. If any fix files are available then extract the latest available fix (B738X_3_46_XX.zip)
file into the B737-800x folder and overwrite the old files when prompted (MAC users
will have to merge them as required)
3. You will have to start XP11 and select the Zibo mod, then start a flight to allow it to
build the supporting nav database files required to complete the installation.
4. All that remains now is to configure the mod as described later in this document BUT
for all practical intents and purposes the installation itself is complete and the mod is
healthy and in good working order as is.

5. How to upgrade the mod with a newly released fix file

1. The first fix should be called B738X_3_46_1.zip and should be used if you are
already on V3.46 or newer only. If there is a newer file PLEASE get that one and
skip B738X_3_46_1. zip and all the fixes in between as you only need the latest fix!
2. As you had an existing Zibo version and only patched / upgraded it you do not need
to run XP11 or Start a flight with it to complete the upgrade, you are done 100% right
now. The mod is updated and ready to use immediately.
3. If the new release is a FULL version then you have to delete the existing Zibo
version that you have and replace it with a fresh, new installation of the latest full
version. You cannot mix versions and can therefore not copy your new full version
into an existing older version’s folder.

Corrupt downloads or unzipped files

From personal experience, I highly recommend using Google Chrome or the new
 ith or without Internet Download Manager to download the Zibo zip files
Edge, w
and then to use 7 -Zip (https://www.7-zip.org/) to unzip them.

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 6

6. How to do a fresh installation of the Zibo
mod if you had it before
1. First we need to backup your information and settings etc.

Files to backup:
a) b738_prefs.txt / b738_4k_prefs.txt (only backup if you are using the default XP11
camera system with predefined views and you will cry if you lose it, otherwise skip
this one)
b) b738_vrconfig.txt / b 738_4k_vrconfig.txt (only backup this file if you use VR and
have modified it otherwise skip this file)
c) Clist.txt (only backup this file if you use XChecklist and are using a newer or
modified version)
d) X-Camera_b738.csv / X-Camera_b738_4k.csv (Only backup this file if you have it,
this is your xCamera presets)
e) If you have them, then save X-KeyPad_b738 and X-Keys as well
f) Realview.cfg (Only backup this file if you have it, this is your Realview presets)
g) The liveries folder - Each livery contains a cfg file that contains a portion of the
setting t hat you saved via the Zibo Tablet. If you do not save this you will have to
redo the affected settings.

Additional Files to delete in the XP11\Output\preferences folder :

a) The b738x.cfg contains the shared Zibo tablet settings
b) The b738x_hw.cfg contains the shared hardware settings from the Zibo tablet
c) The b738x_state.dat contains the switches state
d) The b738x_status.dat contains the Zibo mods GPS location coordinates
** * You may remove these files from your XP11 Root folder if you still have
copies there.

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 7

Additional Files to delete in the main XP11\Output\situations folder :
a) The B738X_01.dat, B738X_01.sit, B738X_02.dat, B738X_02.sit, B738X_03.dat,
B738X_03.sit, B738X_04.dat, B738X_04.sit contains the saved file situations

The procedure:
1) Now, delete this entire folder as well as the files in the main XP11 folder AFTER you
are sure that you have your backup in a safe place!
2) Perform the installation routine in #4 above but do not start XP11 yet!
3) Put your backup files back in place, overwriting the files that the new installation has
put in place.
4) Now you can start XP11 and start a flight with the Zibo to allow it to rebuild the
additional files and complete the installation for you.

Operational Tips

Do not use “Servos toggle” as command to disengage the autopilot, it will create a trim
problem in the Zibo mod

IF the SKI Rain effect crashes XP11, t he problem seems to be XP11 Installation Path
related, Try the default Desktop location or E:\X-Plane 11 (E will be your drive of choice)

Zibo recommends “ Threaded Optimization = OFF” in the NVidia config, for better
Frames Per Second, if you encounter FPS issues when using the SKI effect and
ON w hen using his rain effect

Unless you actually use XHSI, you need to have it turned OFF in the Zibo tablet

A/T Engaged Lock Throttle will prevent your hardware throttle from interfering with the
Zibo VNAV code. The code is near perfect so if you have a VNAV issue, switch this ON.
The only drawback with this setting is that you will not be able to perform a rejected
take-off

Sound Bank errors, remove any B738 aircraft form XP11’s AI panel fixes the problem

Navigational Data errors can be resolved by deleting the B 738X_apt.dat,

B738X_gate.dat & B738X_rnw.dat from the Zibo mod folder.
 LEASE also delete the u
If the problem persists P ser_nav.dat file from the XP11, Custom
Data folder and simply restart the Zibo mod. It will rebuild the databases. T hen follow the
prompt on the Zibo Tablet

7. Payware Nav Data Users Take Note!
(This is only valid if you use payware NAV Data such as Navigraph or NavData Pro!)
As from v3.37.11 on ALL mods, 700, 800 & 900 you can “fix”the ILS discrepancies between
the default XP11 and Navigraph databases. Remember to do this FIX procedure for each
variant of the Zibo / Ultimate mod!

To implement the fix follow these steps;

1. Go to the Zibo Tablet. Select Configure & Customize then General Config then turn
to Page two and switch the function on as shown.

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 9

2. Take note of the instructions pointed at by the arrow!
DO NOT RESTART YET

3. Go to the SAVE facility and save your changes then afterwards, restart your X Plane
and the Zibo mod for the user_nav.dat file to be created.

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 10

4. Back after the restart and back in the Zibo you will now see the custom file has been
created

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 11

NOW r estart XP11 again and you will be all done with the 800…
Remember to do the 700 & 900 as well !

8. Calibrating X Plane 11 and the Zibo 738 properly

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 12

The setting items underlined with RED are critical to have, as shown!!!
As the Zibo now has its own failure system it is recommended to have the XP11 failures
turned OFF

The settings underlined with GOLD are user preference settings and you may set them as
you wish.

If you intend to use XP11 and the Zibo for simulation purposes and not just as a game I
highly recommend using the settings shown above.

The only setting, shown, that I toggle on and off, depending on whether I fly on or offline is
the runway follow terrain contours.

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 13

This part of the guide will help you
setup and configure your system to make use of this
new servo code
8.1) Calibrating XP Plane 11 properly
a) Your first step will be to open your XP11 Settings and go to your controller settings

b) Your first step will be to calibrate your controller in XP11

*** I do not use the Saitek throttle quadrant and that is

why those lines are ignored

*** REMEMBER to do your rudder pedals

as well :)

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 14

c) Your next step will be to configure the Control Sensitivity
and to REMOVE any Stability Augmentation, completely, as shown… Pull all sliders
far left to disable it.
* The Control Response is YOUR Personal choice.
Sliders moved more left = lighter aircraft
Sliders moved more right = heavier aircraft (my choice - 70 tons cannot behave like a
Pitts Special)

The reason for moving all the Stability Augmentation sliders to the left is to allow the
Zibo code to do the work for us, instead of the Laminar Research code.
This is the single most important setting that will affect the Zibo mod

* Always remember that the sliders on the left is linked to your controller while the
sliders on the right is linked to the aircraft ACF file and you do not want to influence
the ZIbo acf file!

Once this part is completed

You can move on to the Tablet in the Zibo cockpit

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 15

8.2) Calibrating the Zibo properly, in the built-in tablet
a) Click on the Configure & Customize button on the tablet,
page 2 from the main menu

b) Click on the Calibration button

© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 16

c) You will now be presented with a screen where you can
calibrate the Zibo mod’s hardware calibration.

Please pay careful attention to the following tasks that you will have to perform:
c.i) Move your controllers and then observe the numbers change while moving them.

c.ii) Now re-center them and check if your numbers return to a stable 0 (ZERO)

~~~
Patchy99 made an awesome, more in depth, guide for and about the Zibo Tablet/EFB.
He goes into much more detail and his guide can be found here:
https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/185598-efb-user-guide-v16-updated/
© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 17
c.iii) As you can see my pedals are not returning to a
stable 0 (ZERO). It seems to flutter
c.iv) I now set my tablet value to cancel
the noise effect and stop the flutter
c.v) In my case I did not have to do anything on the pitch and roll but the pedals was an
issue so I ended up using 4 to stop the fluttering/stuttering on the values in the tablet
~~~
d) All that is left for you to do now is to save your settings on the main menu page.

This takes care of the installation and calibration of the Zibo Mod
- as it should be

~~~
The next section is dedicated to the guys having issues not covered before and it
revolves around troubleshooting the Zibo Mod
9. Known issues & solutions FAQ
9.1) Mouse Pointer - this pointer sometimes misbehaves and then we are unable to use it in
the Zibo as we should.
This is what the corruption usually looks like
_hdg_hold_mag[0] -nan(ind)
_hdg_hold_mag[1] -nan(ind)
You have 3 options to fix it.
1) You can open the default 747 and click a few buttons then go back to the Zibo.
This technique sometimes fails, be warned!
2) You can edit the X-Plane.prf file and simply remove the problem
This is what the lines MUST look like
_hdg_hold_mag[0] 0.000000
_hdg_hold_mag[1] 0.000000
3) You can just delete the x-plane.prf file and then let XP11 rebuild it. This is useful
for a lot of other issues and my go to fix when XP behaves badly !
9.2) I move my throttle but no thrust is applied  - You forgot to install Microsoft C++ 2017
Redistributable or yours is broken and requires an uninstall and reinstall. Also check your
hardware, you might also have another controller intercepting the current/new controller!!!
9.3) No Magenta Line or Duct pressure or Detected missing or unsupported files - You
could be using a livery that is either not compatible or contains assets like panels that clash
with the Zibo. Try a default livery and fix or replace your livery. Another reason your duct
pressure will not work is when you installed the mod incorrectly. Never mix versions or add
older fixes after newer fixes and DO NOT edit any config files, tampering with Zibo’s files
will kill the mod ! Please also try the 2K or 4K version, sometimes one will work.
Lastly you may try fixing this by removing the Zibo completely and do a fresh
installation as described earlier in this document as you may have corrupt files!
© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 19
9.4) Nav Database issue  - You need to keep this updated with a Navigraph subscription.
To rebuild the Zibo database in case of an error, you need to delete B738X_apt.dat,
B738X_gate.dat & B738X_rnw.dat in the Main Zibo folder.
If the problem persists - P
 LEASE also delete the user_nav.dat file from the XP11, Custom
Data folder and simply restart the Zibo mod. It will rebuild the databases.
Then follow the prompt on the Zibo Tablet
As of November 2020 you need to use the N
 EW XP11.50 data version as the old
version is no longer supplied by Navigraph! PLEASE update your Navigraph Data
Manager to switch and use this!
© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 20
9.5) No T/D calculated  - You need to make sure that your cruise altitude is higher than the
Altitude restriction of the STAR’s first waypoint OR take another route that does not have the
same constraints.
9.6) My engines die after take-off  - You need to configure and operate the aircraft
according to proper procedures. You probably melted the engines by running at full throttle
for too long instead of using TO/GA
9.7) The aircraft falls out of the sky  - There are a few reasons;
- Ice or incorrect weather engine settings
- Extending the flaps at too high speed and losing the control surfaces
9.8) The Zibo Tablet and or Displays, displays incorrectly - You installed the xLua plugin
into the main XP11 Plugins folder. Just remove this plugin and install the Zibo mod correctly
9.9) Low FPS  - There are a few reasons;
- Incorrect graphics settings. Expecting the flight simulator to be a scenery simulator
as well is not always doable if you did not spend enough money on your PC
- Incorrect Threaded Optimization setting. Usually with ReShade
- Using environmental add-ons that use large textures and LUA scripts that eat VRAM
- Old or corrupt Shader Cache - Please delete the Shader cache regularly. (X-Plane
11\Output\shadercache)
9.10) The Zibo nosedives after take-off  - There are a few reasons;
- Script failure because you thought the developer reload was not required as
described in this guide :)
- Incorrect turnaround procedures used with the Zibo, on the second leg
- Incorrect settings used on the MCP and / or using Incorrect procedures during
take-off
9.11) The weather radar does not work - There are a few reasons;
- You enabled XHSI in the Zibo tablet
- You do not have enough water to reflect so there is nothing to show
9.12) The displays have writing and symbols all over them
- You probably installed the wrong version of C++. Please make sure and also check
that it is the 64-bit versions as the 32-bit versions will give display errors.
© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 21
10. Other tips and tricks you might find useful
The Zibo Tablet is full of settings. I do not use all of them and I encourage you to go through
the tablet and experiment. The worst that can happen is that you might need to reinstall the
Zibo if you mess it up, so don’t be shy.
10.1) When you select LED lights you lose two of the landing light switches and you can also
make the LED landing lights pulse. Apparently good for chasing birds away and
reducing bird strike amongst other things.
*** Another Filler Tip ***
Plugins of add-on hardware panels including the Saitek and even other more advanced
ones, might negatively affect the Zibo, even if not plugged in. Please make sure to keep
the plugins/ software up to date to avoid any issues.
We highly recommend disabling ANY 3rd party software and plugins when troubleshooting
the Zibo. This is a normal step in the process of elimination while troubleshooting the Zibo!
10.2) The most popular setting to get nose wheel steering working is the YAW option
10.3) The same calibration options that you saw earlier in this document is available for your
throttle as well. This is extremely useful if you have an old throttle with noise on the line
© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 22
If you suffer from Auto Throttle disconnects you might want to try the A/T Engaged Lock
Throttle option on the same page.
© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 23
10.4) Yoke Auto Centre & Yoke Movement must be OFF and that should help you if you
have Autopilot disconnect issues
10.5) If you struggle to connect CMD A, set AP Yoke Neutral Tolerance to simply and able
the Flight Director Helper to give you the visual queues
© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 24
10.6) You can sync the Captain & F/O QNH & Minimums on the PFD’s by setting it in the
Aircraft Configuration page 2.
10.7) You can now save your Zibo state during flight and restore it to a specific saved point
in time. The Zibo will respawn right where you clicked the save button and you can then
check the state and continue your flight.
Zibo recommends that you start your recovery flight
with engines running at this time.
© Nico du Bruyn (Skymatix), 1 January 2018 25
You may save/restore the flight at 4 different places during the flight
10.8) Switch Sate Presets - If for some reason you want the start-up switches in a different
position as supplied by default you may set the states via the tablet to suit your own needs.
10.9) You can enable “Hardware Throttle on EICAS” to show you the position that your
hardware throttles are in, at any given time. This will make it easy to match them to the N1
* Please note that your link to Navigraph will periodically be diabled and then you
have to re-run the routine to link your account. This is normal and simply an
accounting function, nothing strange about it.
2. Terrain radar + Vertical Situation Display by DrGluck
WebFMC is a X-Plane 11 plugin that makes it possible to access the CDU of select
airplanes (at this moment zibo's 738 and 737-900ER Ultimate only) via any modern
web browser running on virtually any device (phone, tablet, smart TV...) in your local
network
You may download it from here:
https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/43314-webfmc/
7. Real 737 Display Mod
The Real 737 Display Mod brings improved displays for the Zibo mod B737-800
You may download it from here:
https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/54445-real-737-display-mod/
* This plugin installs into the Zibo mod folder and will need to over write zibo files. It
will not affect the copy protection BUT you have to be careful. I recommend this for
advanced users only. Support is provided by the developer via his Discord. Please
do not ask me to support this if you need help. As of V3.43.1 This mod will interfere
with the Zibo EICAS and you will have to be even more careful.
8. Zibo 737-800 Coffee Mod
It is a new coffee texture for the cup of coffee at the left side of the cockpit right next
to the pilot. You may download it from here:
Once the Zibo is working in its default state you can add your allowable preferences &
liveries ONE by ONE in case one of the items creates a problem and then you simply
remove the problem to continue again.
DO NOT EDIT config or preference files YOU will break the Zibo Mod
If you find a problem at this stage, with the default Zibo mod and before adding your stuff to
the Zibo, you need to start again and be brutally honest with yourself about each step in this
entire guide. YOU will have to find the problem on your side and fix it.
If you find a problem after this stage and while adding your stuff to the Zibo, you can report it
to the forum for investigation and/or assistance.
