Overview of the Workshop:
The Department of Education University of Lucknow, Lucknow- is organizing ten days
workshop on Research Methodology Course for Ph.D. Students in Social Sciences during 28
January – 06 February, 2020. This program is sponsored by the Indian Council of Social
Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. The
workshop will focus on both quantitative and qualitative research methodology in social
sciences. The purpose of the program includes, to get the participants acquainted with the basic
concept of research, research design and the use of different methods/tools for research problem
analysis. The framework of the course is designed with an emphasis on interactive sessions on
theoretical core topics of research methods, system based exercises and interactive discussion for
writing research paper. Besides, the participants will also be given exposure for field work. The
course is expected to be beneficial for research scholars from all disciplines of social sciences.

Eligibility/Selection Criteria:
Registered Ph. D. students of any recognized Indian university/research institute from
any branch of Social Sciences would be invited for this training workshop. The candidates with
the basic knowledge of statistics and computer application and belonging to ST, SC, and Women
categories will be given priority.

How to Apply:
Interested candidates can apply to Course Director along with duly filled registration
form on or before 20th January 2020. Registration form can also be downloaded from the
university website www.lkouniv.ac.in. The candidates are required to send the registration form
to Course Director by soft copy duly forwarded by the Ph. D. supervisor and Head of the
Department with following enclosures:

(1) Brief CV of the applicant

(2) Ph.D. registration/supportive documents

Registration Fee, Travel Allowances and Accommodation:
There is no registration fee for the Training. Boarding and lodging is free.
Accommodation to out station participants will be provided on sharing basis. TA is payable only
for sleeper class/ Normal Bus fare as per rules.

Venue:
Department of Education University of Lucknow, Lucknow will be venue of this workshop.

How to Reach:
Lucknow has its own railway station and has a regular service to this route with semi
luxury and regular buses. Train service is available to reach here from Mumbai, Delhi, Pune,
Jhansi, Bhopal, Kolkata, Jammu, Amritsar, Dehradoon, Ahmadabad, Jaipur, Patna, etc. Local
Transport: Auto-rickshaws/Metro train are the most common mode of transport service. Taxis
are also available.

Please note that:

1. There are only a maximum of 30 seats: 20 for out station and 10 for local participants.
2. Those who have attended any such program during the last one year should not apply.
3. Admission to the program is on first cum first serve basis.
4. Leave is not allowed during the training period.
