Changing winds of accounting ethics

With this week’s discussion being on the topic of ethics in accounting, it made me pause
for a second and think on the broader implication on this subject. This entire course reflects
on “Accounting History” and how it has improved over the years to better reflect our
changing times. The article I read over the week has a similar view in the sense how
accounting ethics have changed over time, and preaches how something that might be legal
may not necessarily be ethical. Ethics are increasingly in the limelight amid multiple
regulation changes and inquiries into professional accountancy services. These standards
help stakeholders be better protected against financial nuisances that big corporations
benefit from and therefore is a topic of interest for standard setters.
