Review

Direction: Identify the tools being described. Write your answer on your answer sheet.

______________1. It is used to drive and loosen screws.

______________2. It is a tool used to bend electrical metal tubing.
______________3. It is needed to make holes in building structure for passage of wires and
conduit in both new and old installation, indoor or outdoor wiring.
______________4. It is used to pull wires into the conduit or raceway.
_____________ 5. It is also known as a side or disc grinder, is a hand held power tool used
for cutting, grinding and polishing.

Presentation and Discussion

Learning Objectives:
After Reading this discussion you must be able to
 Identify parts of electrical power and hydraulic tools commonly used
during electrical wiring installation.

Now since you are done performing and answering the activities intended for
you to identify the electrical and hydraulic tools. This time let us deepen your
knowledge about electric and hydraulic tools through identifying major parts of it.

Below are the major parts of the common electric and hydraulic tools.
1. PARTS OF A NGLE GRINDER

1. TOOL REST- it is where the position of the grinder when not in use.
2. ON/OFF SWITCH- use to switch the motor ON or OFF.
3. SWITCH LOCK- a button which can keep the switch in the ON position.
4. ELECTRICAL CORD- with the plug, it is use to connect the drill to the
electric supply.
5. CORD STRAIN RELIEVER- It prevents the electric cord to suffer from
strain during and after operation.
6. HANDLE- It is held by the operator when operating for better performance.
7. GUARD- A metallic covering used in trapping the chips flying from the
work piece.
8. GRINDING DISK- Manufactured stone disk for cutting/grinding concrete/
metal materials.
9. LOCKING NUT- a nut use to hold/lock the grinding disk firmly to avoid
accident.
10. SPINDLE- Used to attach the grinding disk to the rotor of the motor.
2. PARTS OF ELECTRIC DRILL

1. PISTOL GRIP- A handle to hold the drill

2. CORD STRAIN RELIEVER- it prevents the electrical cord to suffer from
strain during and after operation
3. ELECTRICAL CORD- with the plug it is used to connect the drill to the
electrical supply
4. SWITCH LOCK- a button which can keep the switch in the on position
5. TRIGGER SWITCH- a switch to switch the motor on and off
6. CHUCK WRENCH- use to tighten and loosen the chuck
7. REVERSING SWITCH- a switch use to reverse the rotation of the drill
from forward to reverse rotation and vice versa
8. CHUCK- holds and turns the rotary cutting tools
3. PARTS OF HEAT GUN

1. NOZZLE- divert air for various purposes, such as concentrating heat in an

area or defrosting an unheated pipe.
2. HANDLE/GRIP- and a built-in or external stand if the gun is to be used hands-
free
3. SWITCH- usually mounted on the front of the pistol grip. Used to turn ON or
OFF the heat gun.
4. CORD STRAIN RELIEVER- it prevents the electrical cord to suffer from
strain during and after operation
5. ELECTRICAL CORD- with the plug it is used to connect the drill to the
electrical supply
6. DUST AIR FILTER- filter the dust that might come in the heat gun.
7. RUBBER STRAND- enables the heat gun to safely rested during pauses in
the work and after uses.
8. PARTS OF HYDRAULIC BENDER

1. HYDRAULIC PUMP- it is considered to be the heart of the tool where it

in houses the hydraulic oil
2. HYDRAULIC HOSE- a high pressure resistant hose where the hydraulic
oil travel from the hydraulic pump to hydraulic ram.
3. RAM TRAVEL GAUGE- A visible guide in determining the distance traveled
by the hydraulic ram
4. HYDRAULIC RAM- it is the one that pushes the pipe being bended to the
desired angle
5. PIPE SUPPORT- It provides support to the pipe being bended
6. BENDER SHOE- It catchers the pipe being bended attached to the hydraulic
ram
7. BENDER FRAME- it houses the entire unit that provides the strength and
support.
ACTIVITY 1

Direction: Label the parts of an Electric Drill.

1.____________

2. ___________

3. ___________

4. ___________

5. ___________

6. ___________

7. ___________

8. ___________

ACTIVITY 2

Direction: Can you name the picture? Identify its parts and define their uses. Write your
answers on a quiz notebook.
ACTIVITY 3
Direction: On a separate sheet of paper make a crossword puzzle to define the parts of an
angle grinder and a heat gun.
