1 Overview

1.1 Scope
This user manual is designed for the MDC system software version 8.0.
The purpose of this user manual is to help the end users to operate MDC system
easily.

2 Getting Started

2.1 System Introduction


2.2 Precondition
For using the MDC, the following prerequisites are necessary:
• Browser: A current version of Chrome is the recommended browser for using
this system. Alternatively, Firefox may be used. The use of Internet Explorer is not
recommended.
• URL MDC: http://ip:port/ Note: port = 9527 in most cases.
• User name and password: admin/admin123

2.3 Login and Logout


2.3.1 Login
Insert URL address in a standard browser to find system login window
Enter the correct user information and click "Login", shown as below.

Note:You can select the system language from the dropdown.

2.3.2 Logout
Anytime if required, click "Login out" to exit system, shown as below.

2.3.3 Change Password


It is suggested to change the password when firstly login to the system through
menu bar and click “change password”, shown as below.

After clicking on “change password” option it will open a change password page, fill
your information and click “save” button, shown as below.

2.4 Interface Layout


“Hexing MDC” is developed based on Browser Server architecture, which means
to work with system, user/users simply open web browsers (like IE, Fire fox or
Chrome) on their own computer and connect to related server by entering address of
server in address line of browser (like http://ip:port/), if everything goes right
customer will see a login page as shown above in section 2.3.1. After successful login
the user will see following layout.

The customer interface includes menu bar, navigation tree and operation area, which
are described respectively in below sections.

2.4.1 Menu Bar

The menu bar has following features:


1) Hexing Logo.
2) Next to logo there is a button to hide and show the navigation tree.
3) There is a search field where user can type a menu name to search it.
4) Next to search field there is a full screen button.
5) At the end there is a current login user’s profile menu where user can
change password and logout from application, for detail see section 2.3.2
and 2.3.3.

2.4.2 Navigation Tree

Navigation tree has all the menus to access the functions of MDC. Navigation tree
has two types on menus, 1) Main Menu and 2) Sub Menus. Main menu represents
the primary functional organization, such as Device configuration, Archives
management and etc. By expanding main menu, several sub-menus will be shown
and just click any sub menu to open the functionality.

2.4.3 Operation Area

This interface represents different functions and operations, operator can access
to sub-menus as well as variety of individual modules, shown as below.

3 System Functions

3.1 Archives Management


3.1.1 Equipment Management

3.1.1.1 Meter Management

3.1.1.1.1 Function Introduction

This function includes Meter management. The meter management refers to stock
management on meter asset.

3.1.1.1.2 Menu Access

[Assets] -- [Registration] -- [Meters]

3.1.1.1.3 Meter Management

Once login to the system, click on [Assets] -- [Registration] -- [Meters] as shown


below:

Function point 1:Meter query
The operator can queries meter information according to the node, Meter asset
number, Meter type, Meter status, Meter manufacturer, Meter type and device type
to complete the list.
Function point 2: Add Meter
By clicking on [Add] button the meter properties will be displayed. So input
meter properties information and save the relevant data to finish meter integration
operation process. Refresh the displayed list. The integration meter window is shown
below.

Function point 3: Display Setting
Set the meter properties for display and maintenance according to the
operator’s requirements.
Click on [Display Setting] button then Select the properties and click [Confirm] to

complete the setting operation.
Function point 4: Meter Modification
In this function Meter can be edited, deleted and viewed.
⚫ Click on [Delete] button to delete the meter.
⚫ Click on [Context view] button to view the meter context.
⚫ By clicking on [Edit] button meter information will be displayed enabling
meter's properties information modification that can be done by clicking on
[Save] button.

3.1.1.2 Terminal Management

3.1.1.2.1 Function Introduction

This function includes Terminal management. The terminal management refers to


the information management of terminal equipment and the mounting between
meters.

3.1.1.2.2 Menu Access

[Assets] -- [Registration] -- [Terminals]

3.1.1.2.3 Terminal Management

Once login to the system, click on [Assets] -- [Registration] -- [Terminals] as


shown below.

Function point 1: Terminal query
The operator can query terminal information according to the node (Archives
tree selection), terminal asset number, terminal protocol, device type, terminal user,
terminal manufacturer, terminal type and terminal status and also complete the
displayed list.
Function point 2: Add Terminal
Click on [Add] button; the pop-up page displays terminal property. Enter
terminal properties information and save it then Refresh the display list. The
mentioned window is shown as below.

Function point 3: Display setting
Set the terminal properties of display and maintenance according to the
operator’s requirements.
Click on [Display Setting] button. Select the properties to display in the pop-up
page and select properties and move to change the display position of the properties,
click on [Confirm] to complete relevant setting operation.
Function point 4: Terminal Modification
Terminal can be edited, removed and view its context.

⚫ Click on [Context] button to display terminal's context.
⚫ Click on [Remove] button to complete terminal's removal operation.
⚫ By clicking on [Edit] button; the terminal edit page will be open for
modification:

Function point 1: Modifying terminal information and device association
Select the terminal node, display the detailed information, modify the properties
information, and click on [Save] to complete the terminal information modification.
For the terminal node, it may add a Meter and the terminal bound device; click on
Add Meter or End device from top right drop down in Edit pop up; the following page
will display meter integration property information as shown above.
After selection Meter or End device from dropdown input meter property or End
device information and click on [Save] button to complete the meter binding
operation under the relevant terminal. By select Meter or End device from select top
right dropdown, Meter or End device information is shown in grid form for binding.
Input terminal property information and click on [Append] button to select Meter or
End device and then click on [save] button.

Function point 2: Modify, unbind, remove and replace linked devices information
Select linked device node to see device's details then modify property
information and click on [Save] to complete the device information modification
process.
Link end devices can be unbounded, removed and replaced. To do, select the
terminal then click on [remove] button to complete the removing of bound devices.
Note:
Meter asset number: It is a unique number that cannot be repeated.
Terminal number: It is a unique number that cannot be repeated.

3.1.1.3 Metering Points Management

3.1.1.3.1 Function Introduction

This function provides measurement point management and Relations between


measurement point and associated equipment maintenance.

[Customer Information] -- [Customer Registration] -- [Metering Points]

Once login to the system, click on [Customer Information] -- [Customer


Registration] -- [Metering Points] is shown as below.

Function point 1: Usage Point Query


The operator can query the usage point information according to node (archives
tree selection), usage point number, usage point name, usage point type, usage point
status, and whether the usage point is associated equipment, and complete display
in the list.
Function point 2: Add Usage Point
Click on [Add] button. The pop-up page displays usage point properties. Input
the usage point properties information and save it. The usage point addition
operation is completed. Refresh the display list. The Add Usage Point page is shown
as below.

Function point 3: Display Setting

Set the usage point properties for display and maintenance according to the
operator’s requirements.
Click on [Display Setting] button then Select the properties to see relevant
window and click on [Confirm] to complete the setting operation as shown below.

Function point 4: Usage Point Modification
Usage point can be edited, deleted, view its context and logged out.
⚫ Click on [Log off] button to complete logout operation of usage point.
⚫ Click on [Context] button to complete context-view operation of usage
point.
⚫ Click on [Edit] button to see usage point structural chart including usage
point-equipment (terminal or Meter), as shown below:

Function point 1: Modify usage point information
Select the usage point node to display usage point details and associated
customer’s information. Modify the property information and click on [Save] to
complete the usage point information modification.
Function point 2: Removing or replacing usage point device (terminal or Meter)

Select the node of usage point device to see the device details. It can be divided
into terminal and Meter. Modify device property information and click on [Save] to
complete the usage point device information modification. You can also view the
Historical connection of meter on click of [Historical connection]
Notes:
Usage point number: It is a unique number and cannot be repeated.

3.1.1.4 SIM Card Management

3.1.1.4.1 Function Introduction

You can add, edit and delete SIM cards.

3.1.1.4.2 Menu Access

[Assets] -- [Registration] -- [SIM Cards]

3.1.1.4.3 Page Display

Once login to the system, click on [Assets] -- [Registration] -- [SIM Cards] as shown
below:

Function point 1: Usage Point Query
The operator can query the SIM Card information according to node (archives tree

selection), SIM No, SIM Series Number, SIM Usage Status and SIM IP to display in the
list.
Function point 2: Add a new SIM Card
Input the information, click the [Save] button.

Function point 3: Display Setting
Set the SIM card properties for display and maintenance according to the
operator’s requirements.
Click on [Display Setting] button then Select the properties to see relevant
window and click on [Confirm] to complete the setting operation as shown below.

Function point 4: SIM Card Modification
You can edited and deleted the SIM card information.
⚫ Click on [Delete] button to complete the deletion operation of usage point.
⚫ Click on [Edit] button to see SIM card modification then click on [Save]
button, as shown below:

3.1.1.5 Non-archive

3.1.1.5.1 Function Introduction

Display the terminals that is having communication but not create the archives in
the system.

3.1.1.5.2 Menu Access

[Reports] -- [Unregistered Meters]

Function point 1: non-archives Query
The operator can query the non-archives information according to Device No.,
Communication time, and complete display in the list.

3.1.2 Customer Management


3.1.2.1 Customer Management

3.1.2.1.1 Function Introduction

Maintenance Customer archive and devices installation relation including customer,


measurement point and device (meter and terminal)

3.1.2.1.2 Menu Access

[Customer Registration] -- [Customer Registration]-- [Customers]

Function point1:Customer query
Query the customer by power utility, substation, feeder line, transformer, code,
name, status, type, meter no, and the fields of substation will be loaded dynamically.

Function point2:Customer adding
Click on [Add] button, the interface will show information of user. Enter customer
information then click on [Save] button to finish the operation of adding customer as
below:

Function point 3:Display Setting
Set the display and the properties of maintained Customer according to the
requirements of operator. Click on [Display setting] button, select the display
properties in the popup page then click on [Confirm] button and finish setting
operation.
Function point 4:Customer Modification
This function lets operator edit, delete and log-off the customers.
⚫ Click on [Delete] button to delete customer information.
⚫ Click on [logout] button to finish the customer logout actions. The customer
status is changed to ‘log-off’.
⚫ Click on [Edit] button, it will show customer structure according to customer-
measurement point-device (end device or meter) as below.

Function point 5:Add new measurement point and select existing measurement
point
Select customer node, so that the detailed information of customer and contact

person will be displayed. Modify the information and click on [Save] button to finish
the modification of customer information.
For customer node can create a new measurement point and select the existing
measurement point operation, click [Add Usage point] , the interface displays the
new measurement point attribute information, enter the measurement point
properties Information, click the [Save] button to complete the measurement point
added;
Click [Select Usage Point], a pop-up box will display the list of existing
measurement points, select the measurement point and click [Append] to complete
the metering point selection.
Function point 6:Logout measurement point and change and hang device (the end
or meter).
Select measurement point node to see detailed information of measurement
point. Modify the property information then click on [Save] button to finish
information modification as below:

Choose measurement points, can associate measurement points related


equipment (meter or end device).
Click on [Add- meter] button, to see properties information of adding meter.
Enter meter properties information in meter management feature, to finish the
adding meter operation and also create terminal or end device in terminal
management feature.
Click on [New Usage point] button to create new usage point in a new window.
Enter information then click on [Save] button to create usage point operation. By
clicking on [Select Usage point], the existing usage points will be shown in a pop-up
box so that select a usage point then click on [Append] button to finish usage point
operation as shown below.

Function point 7:Measurement point device (terminal or meter) remove or change.
Select measurement point node to see device information. Operator can modify
the device property information according to device type and finally click on [Save]
button to finish the modification as shown below.

Regarding measurement point, operator can remove and change the device or
unbind the device on click of [Unbind].
Click on [Remove] button to confirm and finish remove device operation.
Note:
⚫ Customer No:it is a unique number that cannot be repeated.
⚫ Only the users in the running state are allowed to logout, and the users
who are install the running state equipment are not allowed to log out.
⚫ The customer who opens an account is allowed to delete it.

3.1.3 Grid Management

3.1.3.1 Grid Management

3.1.3.2 Function Introduction


This function enables operator to add, delete even modify substation's archive
in order to support substation maintenance, line, sub-line, transformer, transformer
branch-line information.

3.1.3.3 Menu Access


[Customer Information] -- [Grid] -- [Grid]

3.1.3.4 Page Management

Branch1:Substation
Once login to the system, click on [Customer Information] -- [Grid] -- [Grid] --TAB
page [Substation] ,as shown in below.

Function point 1:Substation Query
According to node (navigation tree selection), Select right substation's
number/name even voltage level to make substation information query.
Function point 2:Add Substation
Click on [Add], jump into below page then input substation properties and Save
it and finally refresh the list.

Function point3:Display Set
Set the substation properties required for display and maintenance. Click on
[Display Set] to jump into relevant page as below as below:

Select and move properties on pop up, place where you want. Select the
properties required to display, and then click [Confirm] to finish the setting.
Function point 4:Substation Edit
Edit or delete the substation.
⚫ Click [Delete] to delete the selected Substation.
⚫ Click [Edit] to display Substation power grid platform for modification
Function point 5:
Choose a transformer substation node, it can be modified through adding new
line that needs existing line as well as operational node or branch. Below you can
find detail information for such modification. Please save relevant modification after

the process is finished.
Click on [Add line] button, the relevant interface will show line’s information.
Enter appropriate information and click save button. Now adding new line process is
finished.
Click on [Existing line] button. Existing line can be chosen in newly pop-up box, as
below:

Choose line, and click [Append] button, the selected line will be linked to
relevant transformer substation.
Function point 6:
Choose node of line to modify and add branch or transformer. Choose available
branch line, transformer and the operation for line changing. Click on [Save] button
to save and finish information upgrading operation.

By clicking on [Add branch-line] button, relevant interface will show information


of line. Enter appropriate information then click on[Save] button to finish process of
adding branch line. Finally operator can check the structure chart by display
refreshing.
Click on [Add Transform] button, the interface will show information of
transformers. Enter appropriate information then click on [Save] button to finish
process of adding transformer. Finally operator can check the structure chart by
refresh display.
Click on [select exiting branch-line] button, the existing line will appear from the
pop-up box, select the line, click on [confirm] button, then the selected line will be
linked to the related line. Finally refresh the current window. As a result, operator
can check the transformer substation.
Click on [select exiting transform] button, the existing transformer will appear
from the pop-up box, select the transformer, click [confirm] button, then the selected

transformer will link to the related line that can be refreshed at the end. As a result,
operator can check the transformer substation.
Click on [change line] button, the existing line will appear from the pop-up box.
Click on confirm button, so selected line will be replaced by existing line and finally
refresh the current window. Eventually operator can check the transformer
substation.
Function point 7:
By choosing node of transformer, Operator can modify, add a branch line of
transformer, choose existing branch line of transformer and even evaluate operation
of transformer's new modification.
Choose a transformer node, the interface will show below information. So
operator can modify and save required modification to finish information upgrading
process.
Click on [Add Transformer branch-line] button, relevant window will represent
information of lines. Enter appropriate information and click on [Save] button to
finish the operation of adding branch line process. So operator can check the
structure chart through refreshing current page.
Click on [Select exiting transformer branch-line] button so the existing
transformer branch line will be appeared from the pop-up box, select the
transformer branch line and click on [Append] button, then the selected line will link
to the related transformer. So by refreshing current window, operator can check the
transformer substation.
Click on [change transformer] button to find existing transformers over a pop-up
box. Select a transformer, click [Confirm] button so the selected transformer will
replace by existing transformer. Also operator can check the transformer substation
by window refreshing.
Branch 2: Feeder Line
Once login to the system, click on [Customer Information] -- [Grid] -- [Grid]
--Feeder Line TAB,as below:

Function point 1:Feeder Line inquire


The operator can inquire line information with node of navigation tree, line code,
name and voltage (and …) that can be displayed in a list.

Function point 2: Line adding


Click on [Add] button, the interface will show information of a line. Enter appropriate
information and click on [Save] button to finish the operation of adding a new line so
that operator can check the structure chart by refreshing current window.

Function point 3: Display Set
Set the display and properties of maintain line according to the required
use-case, click on [display setting] button, select the display properties in the popup
page then click on [Confirm] button to finish setting operation.
Function point 4: Line Edit
This function lets operator edit and view the context of lines even delete the
lines.
⚫ By clicking on [delete] button, operator can delete line information.
⚫ Click on [Edit] button, the line structure chart will appear which shows
line-branch line-transformer-transformer branch line, as below:

Choose a node of line to modify and add a branch or transformer then Choose
Available branch line and transformer.
Choose a node of line to get access to modification window. Click on [Save] button to
finish line information upgrading process.
By choosing a transformer node, Operator can modify, add a transformer branch
line. Choose existing branch line of transformer and manage process of transformer
data modification.
Once a branch line node chosen, relevant window will represent below
information that operator can modify and finally click on [Save] button to finish the
operation.
Branch 3: Transformer
Once login to the system, click on [Customer Information] -- [Grid] -- [Grid]
--transformer TAB,as below:

Function point 1: Transformer Inquiry
The operator can query transformer information according to transformer code
and name over private and public transformers which are accessible in relevant list.
Function point 2: Transformer Adding

Click on [Add] button, the window will represent information of transformer.
Enter appropriate information then click on [Save] button to finish the operation of
adding a new transformer..

Function point 3: Display setting
Set the display and the properties of maintain transformer according to the
requirements of operator then click on [display setting] button and select the display
properties and click on [save] button to finish setting operation.
Function point 4: Transformer Edit
This function lets operator edit and delete.
⚫ Click on [Delete] button to delete transformer information.
⚫ Click on [Edit] button to modify transformer

By choosing a node of transformer, Operator can modify, add branch line of
transformer, choose existed branch line of transformer and even check operation of
transformer changing.
Choose a transformer node, the interface will show below information that
operator can modify it and finally save the data to finish information upgrading
process.
Branch 4: Transform branch line
Once login to the system, click on [Customer Information] -- [Grid] -- [Grid]
--Transformer Branch-line TAB,as below:

Function point 1: Transformer Branch Line Inquiry
Operator can query transformer information according to the node of
Transformer, transformer line code and its name which can be displayed in the list.
Function point 2: Transformer adding
Click on [Add] button then the new window will show information of
transformer branch line. Enter appropriate transformer branch line data and click on
[save] button to finish the operation for adding a new transformer branch line. Also
Operator can check the structure chart by refresh display as below:

Function point 3: Display setting
Set the display and the properties of maintain transformer branch line according
to the requirements of operator. Click on [Display setting] button, select the display
properties and click on [Save] button and finish setting operation.
Function point 4: Transform Branch Line Edit
This function lets operator edit, delete.
⚫ By clicking on [Delete] button, operator can delete transformer branch line
information.
⚫ Click on [Edit] button for modification. At the end, click on [Save] button to
finish the operation.

3.1.4 Archives Import

3.1.4.1 Archive Import

3.1.4.1.1 Function Introduction

This function enables operator to import big data or files in a bulk data, including
customers, terminals, meters, usage points and even the relation between the
meters and terminal.

3.1.4.1.2 Menu Access

[Customer Information] -- [Registration Files Import]

3.1.4.1.3 Page Display

Once login to the system, click on [Customer Information] -- [Registration Files


Import] ,As shown in the figure below.

Function point 1: Import files of customer
First download template after select the organization from dropdown then for
import purpose click on [Browse] button, after select the files of customer click on
[Import] to complete data then the imported result can be shown under relevant
window.
Notes:
◆ The information of imported files shall be filled in the agreed template
format.

◆ The recommended import sequences: Customer-terminal-meter-usage,
point-relation between the meter and terminal.
◆ The customer number, name and type cannot be null in importing
customer process.
◆ The device type, asset number and logic address cannot be null in
importing terminal process.
◆ The device type, asset number, meter direction cannot be null in
importing meter process.
◆ The usage point name, number of usage point, the classification of usage
point and line cannot be null in importing usage point process.
◆ To define relation between meter and terminal, both asset number of
meter and asset number of terminal must exist.
◆ The customer number, asset number of terminal, asset number of meter
and number of usage point that have existed cannot be imported.
◆ Except imported link between meter and terminal the rest imported files
are required to choose the organization.

3.2 Device Configuration


3.2.1 DLMS Meter

3.2.1.1 DLMS Task Definition

3.2.1.1.1 Function introduction

This function is used to create, update, delete and to view existing task
templates for the DLMS meter.

3.2.1.1.2 Menu Access

Click on the [Task Schedule] -> [DLMS Task Configuration] -> [DLMS Task
Definition].

3.2.1.1.3 Operation procedure

When user will click the above menu then the main interface will be display,
as shown below.

Function Point 1:Condition query


Operator can filter/query the data using the template name and profile name to see
the desire result.

To upload new file click on “Upload” button, shown in above figure with
