I am positive.

At this moment, imagine yourself being positive for HIV. Feel all the shame, fear, discrimination
and disappointment. In a highly conservative society, learning that you are HIV-positive can be
one of the most difficult experiences you will go through in life. You will be subjected with the
misconceptions that may eventually hinder your positive outlook in life.
Do we really need to live and adhere this social stigma? This is why we must to talk about this.

[EDITORS: Maybe for this paragraph we can show infographs (like charts ganorn yung mga tao
na vector for the stats]
Note: I want you to insert here the situation we are in today. Corelate this to the
Covid 19. Like, does the plight of covid19 affect the rise of HIV+?
I am positive that awareness is the key to eradicate this virus. There is treatment but there is no
cure. Even though medications have changed, the stigma has not. People are afraid of HIV
because it attacks the infected person’s immune system as it progresses into AIDS, making
them more susceptible to diseases and cancer. ot. Due to the lack of awareness, society has
shunned people who have HIV.

According to researchers from the Human Rights Watch, people with HIV are being unlawfully
terminated at work. These people have lost their jobs, their friends, and a huge part of their
lives. Due to the stigma, discrimination, and lack of support and acceptance, people with HIV
are more likely to remain undiagnosed and suffer in silence. The Department of Health reported
that 197 people have died from January to March this year due to HIV. 22 of these were
young people. We must empower the youth, the next generation, the hope of this nation, with
proper reproductive health education.

[EDITORS: For the two people na babanggitin, can we show video clips of them or photos
hehe]

I am positive that advocating for HIV awareness on various platforms is we can do. In 2008, a
man named Timothy Ray Brown was the first patient to recover from HIV, and this year, a man
named Adam Castillejo was also cured through antiretroviral therapy and bone marrow
transplant. With this, I have hope that someday the world will be free of HIV. Until then, the
youth together with the government should work hand in hand in spreading awareness, proper
education, and truthful information to provide the HIV positive individuals the strength they need
and they deserve. They need compassion, not pity. They need understanding, not judgment.
They need a world free from discrimination not full of perfection. Strive to be their ally and
amplify their voices, this is how we can make a difference.
Viruses kill people, and so does ignorance. The more time people are left uninformed, the more
lives HIV will take. Respect the right to health of all people without judgement When faced with
ignorance, seek education and be an educator. Let the youth serve as the sun in these trying
times, giving warmth and rays of hope. Live a life full of purpose, and be an everyday advocate.
For a glorious future free of discrimination and HIV, I am positive.

[EDITORS: Sa pinakadulo, after Anne says “I am positive, mag-flash daw po ng red na

ribbon :)]

Idea ni Elay: Maybe sa dulo starting with “Let the youth…” hanggang “HIV”, our class/majority of
us in 201 can send videos doing a pose? Siguro yung ilalagay yung hand sa chest or something
HAHAHAHA like 1-3 second vids of us doing that? If u think that’s good :^)

Suggested end statement:

Little by little we can empower each other and abolish the stigma and discrimination.
Our action can create a Butterfly effect that will shed the light for humanity.
