Electrical Symbols

Electrical Symbols are small drawings or pictograms used to represent various electrical
devices in a diagram or plan of an electrical circuit

Below are some common electrical symbols. Read its

usage and familiarize them.

Note: There are a lot of legends and symbols when it comes to electrical layout plans. This section
only focuses on the basic legends and symbols that are commonly used in the construction field
within the Philippines.

A) TV Cable, TELECOM and CCTV

Cable television is a system of distributing television programs to subscribers via radio frequency
(RF) signals transmitted through coaxial cables or light pulses through fiber-optic cables. This
contrasts with traditional broadcast television (terrestrial television) in which the television signal is
transmitted over the air by radio waves and received by a television antenna attached to the
television.

Telecom plan displays the electrical circuit, schematics, electrical wiring, digital circuits and house
electrical plans, etc. It clearly shows the electrical devices location and the scheme of telecom wiring
in a building.

CCTV (Closed-circuit Television) is used to depict a system of video monitoring. It electrical plans
include the scheme of strategic placement of video cameras, which capture and transmit videos to
either a private network of monitors for real-time viewing or to a video recorder for later reference.
