Getting acquainted with the syllabus is of utmost importance for effective preparation which
results in scoring good marks in the exam. The syllabus indicates the different weightages of
marks for different topics in the course as well as elaborate what topics and concepts are to be
covered for preparation. Hence, students must acquaint themselves with the course syllabus
before beginning their preparation and optimize their performance.
In this article, we have provided the detailed revised syllabus of CBSE Class-10 Maths
course. The syllabus for the 2020-21 Academic session has been revised by the CBSE and
has been reduced by 30% due to COVID-19. The weightage of various topics in the Maths
syllabus is as follows:

1. REAL NUMBER
1. TRIANGLES (10) Periods
1. (Prove) If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other
two sides in distinct points, the other two sides are divided in the same
2. (Motivate) If a line divides two sides of a triangle in the same ratio, the line is
parallel to the third
7. (Prove) In a right triangle, the square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of
the squares on the other two
2. CIRCLES (8) Periods
2. (Prove) The lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are
equal
3. CONSTRUCTIONS (4) Periods
UNIT V: TRIGONOMETRY
Simple problems on heights and distances. Problems should not involve more
than two right triangles. Angles of elevation / depression should be only 30°,
45°, 60°.
UNIT VI: MENSURATION
Problems involving converting one type of metallic solid into another and
other mixed problems. (Problems with combination of not more than two
different solids be taken).

Mean, median and mode of grouped data (bimodal situation and step deviation
method for finding the mean to be avoided).
2. PROBABILITY (10) Periods
