Materials Course Description

Required: Algebra 2 CP extends the study of foundational algebraic concepts, such as
 Graph paper linear functions, equations and inequalities, quadratic functions, absolute value
 Pencils/pens functions, and exponential functions, from previous mathematical knowledge. is
 Colored Pencils (optional) designed to provide students with knowledge and skills to solve problems using
 3 ring binder w/paper simple algebraic tools critically important for college and careers. Key concepts
Recommended: include includes extensive coverage of absolute value equations, Linear
 Calculator, scientific programming, polynomials, complex numbers, functions and relations,

 No Cell Phones or Ear buds in the classroom!
 Bring the required materials to class.
Prerequisites  Be prepared with any questions that you may have about homework.
Student should have completed  Have only math class material out on your desk during my class.

Attendance
Attendance is very important to your
success in this class. An absence is no
excuse for late assignments. It is your
responsibility to come to me to find
out what you missed upon returning
from an absence. I expect everyone
to be in class and on time every day.
Be sure to read and be familiar with
the strict tardy policy in the student
handbook.

Student tardys will be monitored on a year- in.the classroom!**

7th – 9th tardy: In School Suspension
10th -13th tardy: OSS, Out of School Suspension
14th tardy: OSS and ScIP Referral
15th tardy: Recommendation for Expulsion

Late / Make Up Work Intervention

Daily practice is an essential part of learning. Late work will be
accepted but the grade will be penalized for being late. Per
Dorchester 2 Student Handbook regarding Excused Absences, a
student returning from an excused absence has 5 days to makeup
missed work. A grade of 1 will be placed in the grade book until the
assignment is made up. Students who skip class or are unexcused
tardy will not be allowed to make up a missed assessment.
After 1st quarter interims, students who did not do
well in a course, will be assigned SLT, by their
administrator. During Student Learning Time, SLT,
students report to the teacher for at least 20
minutes to get help, correct work, or makeup
missing work. The student must attend 3 times per
week until their grade is passing.

Students, regardless of grade, can retake any test Unit test within 5
days of the teacher posting the grade in PowerSchool as long as all
practice work is complete for that unit and tutoring has been
attended. The test will not be the exact same test, and must be
completed in front of the teacher during lLT. Students will not be
allowed to retake quizzes.
