2021 DESCRIBING AN EVENT

1. Brainstorm for ideas – Why is it significant to you? Date place time? what activities happened
there? Sesory details – see, smell, taste and smell?
2. Practise with examples – eslflow descriptive essays
3. Write TOPIC SENTENCE + SUPPORTING SENTENCES (supporting details or examples) +
CONCLUDING SENTENCE.

4. Check your grammar and mechanics –


Did you use PAST TENSE? Did you use LINKING DEVICES? Did you check the mechanics?

5. Avoid using words that show generalities (NICE GOOD BAD BEAUTIFUL)
6. Use SPECIFIC, SENSORY and DESCRIPTIVE words (ADJECTIVES).
Eg:
I ate a good dinner. VS
I devoured a steaming hot, cheese-filled pepperoni pizza for dinner.
7. Use words that appeal to the FIVE senses.
