Unit 7 Equilibrium MCQ

1. The answer is 9 because the equation for k is products over reactants . you have 3
moles of each when you look at your products and can find the conc of them to be 3
each. You do 3x3/1 bc its a solid and get 9
2. The answer is 23 atm. K=products/reactants so 4.6 x 10^-2=25/ (P Br)^2
So 25/23= .046
3.solve for x and find the equilibrium concentrations of everything and after plug that into the
equilibrium expression

4. If you remove products on one side the reaction is going to shift to the same side to alleviate
stress- le chateliers- so removing SO2
5.NO>Cl2>NOCL, 2 NO for every 1 Cl2 and more NO in equilibrium, but Kc is greater than one
and there are more products than reactants
8. Answer is it would shift towards the reactants because Zn+2 is removed. If you add more Cl-
then thats gonna make more ZnCl2(s) and since you’re taking away Zn2+ with le chatelier's the
reaction is gonna shift left (towards reactants)
9.looking back I still don’t understand how I got this one wrong but its obviously around 6000
seconds because they hit equilibrium to a point where the concentrations dont change. Right
when it hits equilibrium, the concentration does not change and because the forwards and
backward rates are equal the products are turning into reactants at the same speed as
reactants turn into products.
11. I had the right answer but clicked the wrong one because I was in a hurry… its towards the
products because Q<K, if the volume is halved the reaction will shift towards the side with less
mol of gas.

FRQ:
1a.The equation would be endothermic because the heating shifts to the right. The solution
turns more green which is indicative of more products due to C having a green color.
1b. If concentration products increase then Keq would increase since K= Products/reactants,
so the value of Keq would be higher than before the same as the previous value.
2a. The Kc would be [NH3]2/[Ag(NH3)2+][Cl-], since its products over reactants the and Kc the
AgCl would not be included because its a solid and solids don't have molar concentrations and
there aren't liquids in the reaction and solids are omitted.

2b.you’re already given the moles of each substance and total volume so the initial
concentrations are just 1.20 mol/3.0L=.4 M

2c.

Initial concentrations of the reactants (.4M) start of the reaction- concentration of [NH3]
obviously 0 so that fills in the initial row. Reaction proceeds and x moles of Ag(NH3)+ are
consumed but we know that the reaction has to proceed right because there's no NH3 initially.
So for change we can put -x, -x, then +2x every x moles of Ag(NH3)+ reacting x moles of Cl- are
reacting as well and those react to form 2x moles of NH3 and all according to the balanced
equation
Obviously top solution because its the only one possible after (.4-x)
2d. When you add KCl it is more Cl- added and KCl is completely soluble. Since there are more
Cl- and the forward reaction will happen more and produce more AgCcl by le chatelier's
principle.
