B. Reason
(1) Objective:

The purpose of this Service Bulletin is to replace the low radiation ignition
exciter, PN L21454P05, with a no radiation ignition exciter, PN L63585P01.

(2) Condition/Events:

The ignition exciter, PN L21454P05, has a radiation level, which requires

some operators to comply with administrative compliance plans and tracking.

(3) Cause:
Government radioactive hardware regulations impose requirements for
handling radioactive material.

(4) Improvement:

The new ignition exciter, PN L63585P01, has no radiation and its

administrative costs are now eliminated. The new ignition exciter replaces
the radioactive spark gap component with a solid state switch to create a
radiation-free exciter without impacting the delivered output power.

C. Description
This Service Bulletin provides instructions to replace the ignition exciter(s).
