Logistics has 3 parts:

- Transport
- Warehousing
- Inventory management

Tree core theoretical foundations of scm:

1. Systems perspective:
Everything in the supply chain is interdependent and behaves like a seamless system

2. Total costs concept: the value delivered to the final consumer can only be maximized if we
manage to decrease the cost incurred in delivering the product to the particular consumer.

3. Tradeoff: having to choose between one supply chain and the other

Firms become part of supply chain only when they believe they can make more money.

Write a note on the different types of supply chain decisions while giving examples of each. (one
pager)

Cycle view: We consider supply chain as a series of different cycles and each cycle is performed
at the interface of 2 consecutive stages.

Push and Pull view: the pull process comes from the customer pulling the process toward
themselves. The push process is, in turn, a speculative process. Firms forecast demand and
produce based on those speculations of demand. This view is usefu when considering strategic
decisions.

Competitive strategy:

Defined by how the customer prioritizes performance objectives
