POSITION: Assistant Supervisor Environmental Engineering

JOB GRADING: C3

DEPARTMENT: Environmental Engineering

SITE: South Deep Gold Mine

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 Qualification


• Have 3 years’ experience in Environmental Engineering Department
• Have an Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
• Be computer literate with knowledge of MS Office
• Have knowledge of relevant legislation in respect of Mine Health and Safety Act
• Possess the following skills: time management, communication and assertiveness
• Have good report writing and communication skills
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical
examination at a relevant Gold Fields Occupational Health centre.

NOTE: all relevant certificates must be attached to your CV in order to be considered for shortlisting

Advantageous requirements:

• Advanced Certificate in Mine Environmental Control or studying towards it


• Experience in terms of Refrigeration and Cooling measurements and system analysis
• Radiation Protection qualifications
• Experience in Occupational Hygiene measuring techniques
• “VUMA” mine simulation and modelling

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Measuring of environmental conditions on surface and underground


• Short term planning and submitting of layouts
• Generating reports in respect of Occupational Hygiene measurements
• Monitor legal compliance in terms of MHSA
• Performing administrative functions including linking occupational exposures to medical surveillances
• Assist with compliance to 2024 milestones
