Model S Perforated Gravel Pack Extension

APPLICATION
The Model S™ perforated gravel pack extension is connected to the bottom sub
of the packer in the Model SC™ gravel pack system. When used in conjunction
with an SC-type or BSC-type crossover tool, the perforated extension directs and
controls the fluid flow path in the SC gravel pack system. The Model S perforated
gravel pack extension consists of a perforated extension, with gravel packing
ports, a seal bore sub, and a lower extension. The extension component lengths
are closely controlled to ensure proper crossover tool positioning and travel.

APPLICATION
This gravel pack extension incorporates a gravel pack sliding sleeve above the
seal bore sub. The housing of the sliding sleeve contains the gravel packing ports.
The lower extension is furnished long enough to allow spacing the Model S-1™
shifting tool 4 ft (1.22 m) below the lower end of the crossover tool in order to
ensure proper shifting when an indicator ring is used on the crossover tool. If no
indicator ring is used, the shifting tool may be connected directly to the crossover
tool, and the lower extension shortened accordingly. The housing of the gravel
pack sliding sleeve is made up on the upper extension, which connects to the
bottom of the packer.

When the crossover tool is pulled after completion of the gravel pack, the
shifting tool closes the sliding sleeve as it is pulled through. The gravel pack
sliding sleeve may be opened again by running the shifting tool down through it.
