1.3 Technical Details

The table below shows the capacities of the various variants of the unit.
Capacities in some domains can be reduced by the environment, for example,
software version, license, or RBS configuration.

(1) Capacity depends on software version, configuration, and license. Maximum DCH capacity results in reduced
High-Speed (HS) capacity and maximum HS capacity results in reduced DCH capacity. See also Compatibilities
for Hardware and Software.
(2) Dedicated Channel (DCH).
(3) Used for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA).
(4) The maximum capacity per cell carrier is 15 High-Speed Physical Downlink Shared Channel (HS-PDSCH) codes.
(5) The board supports up to three cell carriers for HSDPA. (For DCH up to six cell carriers are supported.)
(6) 60 HS-PDSCH codes are available in a configuration of six cell carriers. The board supports up to 6 cell carriers.
(7) 60 HS-PDSCH codes are available in a configuration of six cell carriers. The board supports up to 6 cell carriers.
Future software releases will enable additional capacity.
(8) Enhanced Uplink (EUL)

1.3.1 Hardware Capability of TX6HS Boards

The list below shows the hardware capability of the TX6HS-03, TX6HS-04
and TX6HS-06 boards.

• DCH

• Transport channel: High-Speed Downlink Shared Channels (HS-DSCH)

and four High-Speed Shared Control Channels (HS-SCCH) per cell carrier.

• HS-PDSCH

• Quadrature Phase-Shift Keying (QPSK) and 16-Quadrature Amplitude

Modulation (16QAM)

• Scheduling of EUL traffic distribution over Random Access and Receiver

(RAX) boards

1.4 Hardware and Software Compatibility

TX boards are available with various capacity and capabilities. Extra capacity
is added by license keys or by adding more boards for load-sharing up to
maximum capacity. Additional TX boards can be added for redundancy when
low capacity is required.

The unit has the following functions:

• Soft and softer handover

• Transport channel handling

• Encoding

• Modulation and spreading

• Physical channel combining
