Instructions For The YDYO Speaking Exams.: Part A: Testing Academic English
Four students are asked to enter the exam room at the same time. Each student is then asked
to choose two question slips that are turned over. They then answer only one of the questions
that they prefer. Students are then given about five minutes to think about their chosen
question. The exam is completed when each individual student feels confident that he or she
has fully answered the question.
Do you think our lives have been improved by computer technology? Think of a few
examples of how computers have an educational or an entertainment value. Could you
do without them?
You are at the airport and you want to go to the city centre. Who do you ask for help? What
would you say?
You are in a hotel check in desk. You want a room for two nights. What do you say?
