I have a Master’s in Teaching from USC, and in the last (almost)
5 years I have been in São Paulo, Brazil teaching English and History to bilingual students here. My passion is helping students to find theirs and to provide a platform where their voice can be heard in the world. Coming from my athletic background at UCLA as a gymnast, I realized how integral that working with others, teamwork, collaboration, and diversity are, especially in the learning process, and in solving problems in the real world. So, I bring that to the classroom as much as I can through inquiry-based and project-based learning. Currently, my students are working on a passion project where they get to be a part of the entire process and create something in the end. I have also teamed up this year with the curriculum coordinator to revamp our curriculum to make it more personal, to make it relatable, to reflect 21 st century skills, as well as have led several workshops on blended learning and other instructional approaches, including backwards design. Currently, I am looking to be a part of a professional working environment that provides autonomy for students, that promotes innovation, exploration, and emphasizes a cross-curricular mentality. That’s something really important to me.
