Project Name: DESIGNS, AS WE KNOW IT: THE FUTURE OF ARCHITECTURE IN A POST
PANDEMIC WORLD Proponent: Espina, Charles Ian and Meneses, Reina Hyacynth

A. About the Event

With the novel coronavirus affecting the very blueprint of the Philippines, architects,
builders, designers, and planners have been proposing various ideas and layouts for
spaces and structures post-COVID-19. At present, the architecture and design industry
are continuously re-evaluating the way people will move around spaces, specifically
inside their homes, offices, and within public establishments. Planners are reassessing the
outline of cities and relatively developed rural areas, focusing on public highways, central
business districts, and highly dense communities.

In order to present how the pandemic is affecting the built environment on a larger scale,
this 2020, UAPSA presents DESIGNS, AS WE KNOW IT: THE FUTURE OF ARCHITECTURE IN A
POST PANDEMIC WORLD, a two hour seminar that will address the needs of post-
pandemic design and planning, gathering ideas and observations from acclaimed
architects and designers of the Philippines.

The main purpose of this event is to identify and posit solutions for critical issues related to
the care environments being considered by the construction industry professionals as the
COVID-19 crisis continues to affect more citizens of the world, and what specific
considerations relate to this architecture.

B. Details of the event

Understanding how new social distancing guidelines can be used in conjunction with
technology and design will be more crucial for public health than ever. The seminar will
give an overview of safety measures and systems which can be integrated into our
existing buildings and designs to create a safer work environment for building occupants.
We will explore some short-term and long-term strategies and solutions including focus on
indoor air quality, advanced air-filtration systems, addition of biophilic design elements
as well as new space-planning protocols.

The event is designed for a range of Professionals and those with a general design interest
to understand the perspectives of the Philippine construction industry leaders:

Architects Business Owners

Engineers Students Contractors Investors

The seminar is a 2hr-session that will be held on 9th day of November year 2020, starting
at 9:00 AM (UTC+8). The location is at the 12th Floor Annex Building of National University.
