How did Tutankhamen change modern society’s perception on ancient

Egypt and what did he do for the traditional town?

Tutankhamen, also known as King Tut, – c.1341 to 1323 BCE-

created change in ancient Egypt after his father, Akhenaten, destroyed
their culture and religion. His father died when he was only around 7
years old and became pharaoh around 9 years old after marrying his
sister, Ankhesenamun. Tutankhamen made it his goal to bring back
the original Egyptian culture by repairing holy statues and temples.
His tomb also provided addition to the studies of ancient Egypt in the
20th century. He was in charge in the new kingdom from 1332 to 1323
BCE.

Interestingly, Tutankhamen really acted on his beliefs, creating

change to what his father did to Egyptian culture. This wonderful
pharaoh was known to create peace after the gods apparently didn’t
answer prayers or help in wars due to his father forgetting about them
(Study.com, 2020). Even though his father only believed in one god,
Aten, King tut tried his best to bring back the many gods in his couple
years in charge. His time as a pharaoh was cut short when he died
around 18 years old. Archaeologists are still trying to figure out how
he died when he did, he was ‘leaving no heir.’ (history alive 7, 2012,
pg. 133).

Tutankhamen’s tomb had a great impact on contemporary society’s

perception regarding ancient Egypt. When archaeologist Howard
Carter uncovered an old staircase leading to one of the new kingdom
pharaohs’, Tutankhamen tombs, their understanding of the old city
evolved. This burial chamber was an immense discovery of the
twentieth century as it was the first one to be untouched, and not
robbed. In the tomb there was over 5,000 items, including: golden
items, statues, canopic jars with organs, king Tut’s mummy, paintings
and more. Discovering this grave helped archaeologists to understand
what an Egyptian tomb looked like. While studying the remains, they
obtained important information about how the people of Egypt buried
deceased beings and why they entombed people with so many items.
Even though we don’t know much about Tutankhamen’s time in
charge, he left an important legacy of finding out about Egypt’s
history.

Tutankhamen changed both the way ancient Egypt believed in gods
and modern people’s perception on ancient Egypt. He fixed the
damage his father did to temples and statues all around this ancient
 city. Even when he died, his tomb held a great impact on society.
Humans learnt about what tombs looked untouched. Many people
don’t know much about him, as there is not much information on him,
though he made a great impact on ancient and modern societys.
