customers. Process economics and demanding plastics without agglomerations to achieve optimal coloring
properties such as surface smoothness, color consistency
and development and mechanical integrity can be lifted to
of plastics parts. Clariant’s innovative Licocene®
higher performance levels with the help of Clariant’s wax grades are used not only as dispersion aids but
solutions. Our long-standing experience and expertise
make it possible to solve our customers challenges.
also as carriers to attain higher pigment or additive
loadings and lower processing temperatures and
reduce mechanical shear, useful for delicate organic
pigments and special effects pigments, such as
pearlescents and metallic flake.
Convertors
While extruding difficult profiles, laminat-
ing sheet or filling complex, thin-walled,
injection-molded geometries, Clariant’s
lubricants help to achieve smoother surfaces,
reduced volatiles and less roller or die build-up.
Compounders
Our advanced wax additives add value to all sorts of plastics
compounds. The Licowax® and Licocare® solutions enable
faster cycle times, smoother surfaces, better dispersion and
higher shaping flexibility by improving polymer melt flow and
the mold release of plastic parts. In thermoplastic composites,
the use of Clariant’s solutions, such as MAH grafted Licocene®,
can positively influence surface and mechanical properties.
Recyclers
We support recyclers of post-consumer or post-industrial
plastics with our broad portfolio by helping to meet typical
needs like flow improvement or compatibilization of
inhomogeneous waste streams (e. g. PE & PP). Selected
Licocene®, Licowax® or Licotas® grades are recommended.

INDUSTRY SOLUTIONS
PACKAGING
Clariant’s Licocene® grades, Licowax® PE 520, Ceridust® 3620
or Ceridust® 6050 M are polyolefin waxes that allow excellent
coloration of plastics packaging, such as caps and closures of
consumer care bottles, at favorable economics. Our solutions based
on renewable feedstock, e. g. Licocare® RBW Vita, or Licolub® FA 1,
are very suitable additives for biopolymer-based packaging solutions.
OTHERS
In addition, our wax additives go into a wide range of other
industries: agriculture, furniture, medical, sports or textile
just to name a few.

ADDRESSING YOUR CHALLENGES
Licocene® grades are polyolefin waxes manufactured using The Licowax® portfolio covers a variety of products, from hard,
metallocene catalysts. This process enables narrow molecular high-melting polyethylene waxes to polar, modified grades,
weight distribution with advantageous physical properties, from amide waxes and montan waxes. Significant reduction of mold
amorphous grades to highly crystalline grades with sharp melting release force and polymer melt flow improvement are only a few
behaviors. Copolymers and functional maleic anhydride grafted examples of their performance benefits in plastics applications.
grades enlarge the portfolio for a wide range of applications.
Product forms
Our products are available in several solid forms: granules, flakes, fine grains and powders (incl. micronized).
If you prefer emulsions or dispersions of our waxes, we also strive to come up with a solution for you.

Lubricants
Internal Lubrication
Wax is compatible with the selected polymer, due to its polarity and chemical functionality, which
helps improve melt flow, by reducing the internal friction and entanglement of polymer chains in the
molten state when processing.
External Lubrication
Wax functions as an external lubricating film layer between the polymer (if of a different polarity) and
the hot metallic surfaces to prevent the polymer melt from adhering to the machine parts, providing a
smooth surface quality.

Dispersion Aids
Undispersed pigments and fillers interrupt a smooth polymer flow and cause an increase in filter
pressure. This increase in pressure may cause an increase in temperature and shear which may
damage pigments or fillers and cause color shifts. Properly formulated waxes wet out pigments and
fillers which reduces agglomerates and hence lowers incidence of undesirable pressure increase.
Uniform dispersion leads to optimal color yield and stronger mechanical properties.
Our amorphous Licocene grades are also used as very effective carriers for highly-loaded masterbatches.
Key products are Licocene PP 1302, Licocene PP 1502, Licocene PP 1602, Licocene PP 2602 and
