Self-Assessment of NBPTS

Directions: For each element, rate yourself in one of the following three categories. Then provide examples of your experiences in the
area of the NBPTS. Finally, identify areas within each domain where you are interested in growing. On the last page, summarize your
strengths and areas of possible growth. Boxes will expand as needed.
 Exploring/Emerging (E/E) - a level of practice in which the teacher relies on ongoing assistance from more experienced
colleagues for support, guidance, and survival. The teacher is moving toward becoming more self-directed and independent in her/his
practice.
 Applying (A) - a level of practice in which the teacher is able to provide independent instruction and easily applies what s/he has
learned about educational practice.
 Integrating/Innovating (I/I) - a level of development in which the teacher is fully skilled and confident. The Integrating/Innovating
teacher is contributing to the broader educational community through staff development, research, or publication in professional
journals.

 I check my students individual progress throughout
assessments and their overall activities and adjust
how they address their work and understanding of
the material.
 I understand that a majority of my students like to I would like to be able to work more with the students and
work on hands-on assignments, so a majority of my use some of their feedback more often about their work and
teaching reflects that. The students like to have a what they like and don’t like to further my lessons for the
good and fun time while learning and it shows. following years to come and lessons.

 All of my students are taught equally. They are all


held to the same expectations and are asked to do
equal work on group projects with validation of
their groups members to back it up.

 I am able to differntiate my teachings to fit every
student within the classroom.
 My lessons are built upon prior knowledge and I would like to use the 5E modeling more in my teaching. I
have a good path so that students can build upon think this would be effective at allowing everyone to

 I give students positive feedback throughout the
class period and give them encouragement to do
their work and assignments.

 I allow student's parents to email me at their
coveniance in order to best fit their homestyle to
best address their students.
I haven't worked a lot with the community, and think that I

I feel as if I do quite a bit well, such as setting my students and their families up for success by tailoring my instruction to
include feedback from the students, allow the students to learn to the best of their ability. I think there are areas of
improvement that improvement both my teachings, but also my students learning and can benefit everyone.
