Johor Bahru – Knowing martial arts has indeed come in handy for 12-year-old
Bella. The Year 6 pupil of SK Tanjung Puteri had a horrifying experience last
Friday while walking home from school. Bella took her usual route home. It was a
ten-minute walk to her house. As Bella had to stay back at school to attend a
prefects’ meeting, the roads were quiet by the time she left.
While walking, she noticed a car following her. She quickened her pace, and
instead of going home she made for a nearby grocery store. However, a man
suddenly grabbed her from behind. Luckily, Bella did not panic. She had the guts to
hit the man’s stomach with her elbow causing the man to loosen his grip. Then Bella
bravely kicked him again before running to the grocery store while screaming for
help. The shopkeeper rushed out upon hearing the screams. Bella told him what had
happened, and he immediately informed the police.
After his failed attempt, the would-be kidnapper quickly jumped into the
waiting car and drove off. The quick-thinking Bella managed to take down the car’s
number plate.
