PANGHALIP (PRONOUN) – has 2 kinds which are called: Panao and Pamatlig

1. PANAO (PERSONAL PRONOUNS) – replaces the nouns in a sentence

EX.
In the sentence, “Mabuti si Alice” (Alice is nice), Alice can be replaced by “siya”.
So, the new sentence is "Mabuti siya" (She is nice).

EX.
Ako ay babae. (I am a girl)
Binigay ko kay Sally. (I gave it to Sally)
Akin ka lang. (You are mine) **notice that 2 pronouns are used here

2. PAMATLIG – determiners
• TYPES OF PAMATLIG
o PATULAD – expresses similarities
▪ Ganito (Like this) **when you’re holding the object
▪ Ganyan (Like that) **when the object is in close proximity to the person you’re
talking to
▪ Ganoon (Like that) **when the object is far from you and the person you’re
talking to
o PANLUNAN – expresses directions
▪ Nandito (Here)
▪ Nandiyan (There) **when the place is in close proximity to the person you’re
talking to
▪ Nandoon (There) **when the place is far from you and the person you’re talking
to
EX.
Ito ang ebidensya laban sa kanila.
Iyan ay panis na.
Iyon ang ating pupuntuhan.
