Myron
Athenian sculptor
Description
Myron of Eleutherae, working c. 480–440 BC, was an Athenian sculptor from the mid-
5th century BC. He was born in Eleutherae on the borders of Boeotia and Attica. According to
Pliny's Natural History, Ageladas of Argos was his teacher

The Discobolus of Myron is a Greek sculpture completed at the start of the Classical
Period, figuring a youthful ancient Greek athlete throwing discus, about 460–450 BC.
Polykleitos
Description
Polykleitos (active ca. 450-420 B.C.), one of the great innovative Greek sculptors of the
5th century, stands alone in his concentration on the problems of the nude, male human body, for
which he evolved a standard of proportion and representation that in one way or another
influenced the subsequent development of sculpture in Western civilization.

Nicola Pisano was an Italian sculptor whose work is noted for its classical Roman
sculptural style. Pisano is sometimes considered to be the founder of modern sculpture.

Description
Bonaventura Berlinghieri was an Italian painter from Lucca, Italy, of the Gothic period.
He was son of painter Berlinghiero Berlinghieri and brother of Barone and Marco Berlinghieri.
Bonaventura painted several panels and wall-paintings at Lucca, in 1235 and 1244.

Master Francke O.P. was a North German Gothic painter and Dominican friar, born ca.
1380 in the Lower Rhine region or possibly Zutphen in the Netherlands, who died ca. 1440,
probably in Hamburg, where he was based at the end of his known career. He is called "Fratre
Francone Zutphanico" in one document.

botany, paleontology, and cartography.

Description
Fernando Amorsolo y Cueto was one of the most important artists in the history of
painting in the Philippines. Amorsolo was a portraitist and painter of rural Philippine landscapes.
He is popularly known for his craftsmanship and mastery in the use of light.
“Dalagang Bukid”
For Amorsolo, the Dalagang Bukid was his muse of ideal Filipina beauty foregoing the
Maria Clara-typed wallflower who presents herself as a smiling and cheerful lady, despite the
labor beckoned in the agricultural plain. She is depicted sporting in the national costume of the
baro’t saya with her hair firmly held by flowing bandana to shield her, from the brightness of the
afternoon sun.
