Few information about temperatures and structures:

Technical basic element which insures mechanical characteristics of strip, is the optimum temperature:
the end of rolling temperature, cooling temperature and the cooling rate of the strip.
Influence of temperature on structure for low-carbon steels:
- the optimal structure is fine and uniform, with cementite fine dispersed;
- the optimum temperature is  above the point A3 (900 degrees), and a coiling temperature under A1
(650-620 degrees);

 results:

FRT high - uniform structure, increase grain size;

FRT high and DCT high - large grain size plus massive cementite agglomerations in the crystalline
structure;
FRT under A3 and low DCT - mixed structure: high grains at surface and small in the core;
FRT around A1 and low DCT- ferrite grains are elongated due to cold hardening (deformation at low
temperature);
FRT around A1 and high DCT - big grains due to the auto-tempering;

 Steels for deep drawing:

- coiling temperature as low as possible;

- high speed cooling on the first portion of the ROT, to avoid precipitating nitrides, this way ensuring
high malleability;

 structural steels and steels for welded pipes:

- nitrides favors a fine structure and some high mechanical characteristics - is needed low speed cooling
immediately after rolling and high speed before coiling;
