Creating

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

This technology tool is one of the easier tools to learn and harness therefore all students of all learning
types would enjoy engaging with this activity. Students have the freedom of expression to create their
own review game which means that they get to choose their questions and answers and choose the
images and themes for their review games. This software also encourages and creates a space where
all students can actively participate using either their BYLD Devices or a classroom set of devices.
All students can take action and participate while playing their peer’s Kahoot games. If needed,
students with IEP’s or EL students can work with their peer on supporting them through the
participation of the review games.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will
introduce the SRT activity.

I will introduce this activity to the students on day 1 out of the 3 days students will be given to
explore this software, create their review games, and then playing their review games. I will start off
day 1 of class with a brief presentation about Kahoot: what it is, how students will use it, and how it is
beneficial for all content areas of study. I will create an example review quiz for students and teach
them how to successfully work with this software. After, students will be let free to sign up, create
their game, and share their game with the teacher online. On day 2, students will have all of their class
period to create their game.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate
common misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of
differentiation and mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge
☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

During the activity, the students will be answering review questions on their BYLD devices. The
teacher will start out by reading the questions aloud and the answers aloud which allows students time
to think without wasting too much time reading each question and answer. Students simply choose
their correct answer on their BYLD device that corresponds with the questions presented on the
board. This activity will take the whole class period as the teacher randomly chose 5, 10 question
review games created by the students. Today was their day to play these review games that they
worked so hard on.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☒ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
1. European Exploration caused new diseases to affect the natives living in Georgia.
2. What food did the Georgia Natives master growing?
3. What year in the European explorers come to Georgia?
4. Which age did the natives in Georgia live in?
5. What material did the Natives make their tools out of?
6. The Natives were open to the learning the ways of the white European Explorer.
7. The Natives traded with the European Explorers.
8. What is the name of the famous European Founder of Georgia?
9. Why was Georgia labeled the "debatable land"?
10. The Native Removal Act was called the "Trail of Tears".

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Student Response and Assessment Tools
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions
and display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☐ Yes
☒ No
Why or why not?
I as the teacher will not preselect correct answers, however the Kahoot system was designed to where
there is only one answer and students till create their questions with the correct answer in one of the
choices.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the activity, the teacher will collect and save the online data. She will also receive verbal
feedback from the students asking them if they liked this activity and what could have been done
differently from their perspective. The teacher will also look at the scoreboard after each game and
hand out a piece of candy to the students who received first, second, and third in each of the five
games.
How will the data be used?

The data that will be collected will gauge the teacher in how her students have actively participated
throughout this whole lesson and how they have showed what they have learned by answering the
Kahoot questions correctly. The teacher can collect the data at the end of each game and she can
visibly see which students are in the clear and which students could have struggled with this overall
lesson. The teacher can then address the students who did not pass the review games and see where
they felt like they struggled. The teacher can then suggest that the students should reread chapters or
review their study guides again before the actual assessment. I will not discuss the data with the class
unless there is a question in which most students missed because then it would be beneficial for the
whole class to learn the correct information regarding that question. Students who excelled at their
review games will review a piece of candy to congratulate them on achievement.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

I tried to branch out and do something new in regards to letting students create their own review
games instead of them participating in a teacher created on. I hope to learn how to properly instruct
students on new software tools that are student friendly in my classroom one day. I hope that this
activity will allow students to not only create review questions for their peers, but to also review the
material for their own benefit in the future when they have to take their lesson assessment.
Reflective Practice:
I think that my lesson plan will impact student learning in a way that shows students that they can be
in control of their own academic learning and that learning can be fun. I could further extend this
lesson by having myself, the teacher, create more advanced and longer Kahoot review games that
allows students to focus on learning the content for that lesson. I do not believe that there are any
other tools that could enhance Kahoot as it is all done on its own platform and students use their
BLYD devices to participate throughout the review games.
