GUIDELINES FOR SCOTLAND PAKISTAN SCHOLARSHIPS
FOR YOUNG WOMEN AND GIRLS Master’s/MPhil
2020-2021
Scholarships Subject areas
The Scotland Pakistan Scholarship is being offered to FEMALE STUDENTS pursuing a Master
or MPhil in any one of the following fields:

• Education

• Sustainable Energy

• Food Security and Agriculture

• Health Sciences (Medical Sciences are not included)

• STEM Engineering (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) This scholarship is


currently not being offered to candidates pursuing master’s in social sciences such as economics,
business studies, psychology, sociology, anthropology, history and so on.

Eligibility for the Pakistan Scotland Pakistan Scholarship Scheme


Female applicant completed you bachelor’s degree (16 years education) and are now looking to
apply for a Master’s or MPhil program, this scholarship. If applicant fulfills the following
criteria, then she will be eligible to apply for the Scotland Pakistan Scholarship Scheme:

• A Pakistani woman, currently residing in Pakistan

• The Master’s/MPhil degree wants to pursue is no longer than 2 years (i.e. the program you are
applying for can be no longer than 2 years. If the programme is longer than 2 years, then you are
not eligible for the scholarship)

• Female applicant has a confirmed offer/admission from AIOU. (i.e. you must have applied for
a master’s degree and received an offer from AIOU, admitting you to a programme in the AIOU)

• Female applicant enrolled in AIOU in one of the following subject areas only: Education,
Sustainable Energy, Food Security and Agriculture, Health Sciences or STEM Education
Supporting documents need to provide along with the application form
For a complete scholarship application, the following documents must be submitted along with a
duly filled out application form:

• Copy of CNIC/ Form B (Applicant)

• Copy of CNIC/ Form B (Parent/Guardian)

• Salary slip of Parent/Guardian (You may also choose to submit a pension slip or any proof of
parent’s/guardian’s employment status)

• Copy of certificate or result sheet of most recently completed educational degree

• Copy of letter of confirmation of admission from a university/college

• Copy of tuition fee schedule for the programme you are pursuing. (If you need to utilize hostel
facilities, please be sure to present a fee schedule for the hostel costs as well).

Female applicant enrolled in MPhil degree can also apply


Female applicant enrolled in an MPhil degree in AIOUO in one of the following subject areas
only: Education, Sustainable Energy, Food Security and Agriculture, Health Sciences or
STEM Education is also eligible to apply.

5. What does this scholarship cover? Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme will facilitate
award-holders with the following:

• Tuition fees for master’s/MPhil courses

• University hostel costs

• Travel to and from home to university two times a year for students staying in on-campus
hostels

Age limit for this scholarship


There is no age limit for this scholarship. Any Pakistani woman who wants to pursue a master’s
degree is encouraged to apply.
Admission letter
The Scotland Pakistan Scholarship will only be offered to candidates who can prove they have
been accepted into a university or are already enrolled in a master’s programme, therefore your
admission letter must be valid, or you must be able to present alternative proof of enrolment in
the university. You can only use your previous admission letter if you are currently enrolled in a
master’s programme or have deferred your admission to the following year. If you were
previously accepted into a university but did not accept the offer, then you must apply to a
university again and submit a new admission letter.

Last date to apply for this scholarship


The deadline to submit your application is 25th January 2021. Please apply directly to AIOU not
to British Council.

Short listing of Selection Process for the scholarship


Candidates who fulfill all basic eligibility criteria are shortlisted on the basis of academic merit
and financial needs. The basic eligibility criterion is as follows:

• Pakistani woman, currently residing in Pakistan

• The master’s/MPhil degree you want to pursue is no longer than 2 years (i.e. the program you
are applying for can be no longer than 2 years. If the programme is longer than 2 years then you
are not eligible for the scholarship)

• Confirmed offer/admission from AIOU.
