Voltage Regulation Test Procedure
Voltage Regulation Test Procedure
Voltage Regulation Test Procedure
1.0 GENERAL
1.1 Purpose
This document defines the test procedure for measuring the test vehicle’s voltage regulation in response
to the addition and removal of loads and varying engine rpm.
This standard covers all Chrysler vehicles for 2009MY and beyond.
(1) If Applicable
Use Dewetron data recorder to measure system voltage reactions to application and removal of loads
and variation of engine rpm.
No loose clothing allowed while working under the hood with engine running. Protect electrically hot
connections from grounding.
5.0 CONDITIONING
6.0 SAMPLING
Set data acquisition rate to 1,000 samples/second with a 50kHz low pass filter for the current
measurement channels and a 20 kHz low pass filter for the voltage measurement channels.
7.0 PROCEDURE
8.0 REPORT
Report the voltage undershoot and overshoot as the EBL is applied and removed at both idle and 1500
rpm. Report the voltage undershoot and overshoot as power window motors are stalled and then
deenergized at both idle and 1500 rpm. Report the voltage overshoot and undershoot recorded as
engine rpm is varied between idle and approximately 2,500 rpm.
9.0 DEFINITIONS/ABBREVIATIONS/ACRONYMS
Three asterisks “***” after the section/paragraph header denotes single or multiple technical changes to
the section/paragraph.
Certain important information relative to this Laboratory Procedure has been included in separate
standards. To assure the materials submitted meet all of Chrysler requirements, it is mandatory that the
requirements in the following standards be met.
CS-9800 - Application of this procedure, the subscription service, and approved sources
CS-9003 - Regulated substances and recyclability
