POLICE DEPARTMENT.

Imphal, the 2nd August, 2020.

Subject: Additional guidelines for handling suspected and covid-19 positive police
personnel in the Units/offices etc., strict implementation of Covid-19 SOPs
and instructions issued time to time: Regarding.

Of late many Police personnel have contracted the COVID 19 virus despite of issuzance
of SOPs and day to day reminders sent No.to unit commanders on the importance of social distancing.
use of sanitizers and frequent washing of hands etc. It has been seen that the
SOP/guidelineslinstructions issued time to time from the Government and PHQ have not been
followed properly. In view of the increase D-2/8/20-1GP(Ops)
number of police personnel testing positive, there is an
urgent need to enhance our surveillance and stricter adoption of those guidelines to prevent fuither
spreads of the virus. In addition to the already circulated SOP and various guidelines, the following
actions need to be implemented with immediate effect.

1. No visitors should be allowed entry to any police/MRIIRB or other unit establishments


without proper verification and medical protocol in place. Police personnel leaving station
and visiting home should be curtailed and only extremely necessary should be allowed and
for any returnees to the camp, all protocol should be followed scrupulously before entry

2. All police personnel detailed in the office, barracks, etc. should maintain social distancing
as far as practical. Wearing of mask is recommendedif more peope are in the same raum.
No unmecessary physical contact should be made.

3 Frequent hand washing should be ensured strictly and disinfectants should be applietl at
least once a day in all office rooms, barracks, kitchen, sentry posts, toilets etc.

4 All the Police/MR/RB personnel detailed for VIP/Officers' escorts/guards should not be
changed frequently as done earlier. A proper record of movement to be maintained al all
escortslguards locations for contact tracing. No personnel should be allowed to visit whiose
homie falls under containnment zones. The same medical prolocol should be followed for
entry into Unit campuses.

5. AlR Units should Have a temporary isolation room' to accommodate any personnel who
are naving Covid-19 symptoms and also who were in close contact with Covid-19 positive
person before the medical authority decides the appropriate place to keep them.

6. Any personnel having Covid symptoms or any personnel having contact with any Covid
positive persons should immediately inform the DC or Medical Officer conceris given
below at the earliest to facilitate testing of those personnel.

7. The Unit Commanders, in co-ordination with the concerned Medical Officers/trained
medical officers, should start contact tracing immediateiy.

8. As per the existing protocol, any police officers and personnel who returned to lhe slate
from oulside shall be quarantined for a period of 14 days at MPTC, Pangei. No other police
personnel, other than sent by PHQ and other appropriate authority shall be quaranlined in

MPTC, Pangei.
9. The Unit Commanders will be responsible for strict implementation of SOP issued and of
the above instructions and any lapses in this regard shall be viewed seriously.

10. The Director General of Police, Manipur and the Nodal Oficer (Covid-19), Police
Department should be kept informed of any development in this regard.
